AI’s Role in The Future of Content Writing

AI won’t replace writers, but the writers who use AI will replace the writers who don’t.

AI tools don’t write as creatively or emotionally as humans – yet – but they can certainly contribute to better content through other tasks – research, editing, and rewriting, to name a few. They can also test headlines, predict what target audiences want to read, and structure copy efficiently.

The human mind, with all its capacity for subtlety and nuance, remains the most powerful force in writing. Humans are the only ones who can truly create something new. AI tools aren’t humans, but as research and resources are poured in, they’re quickly catching up. And they can help writers become more effective communicators.

The writers who use them spend less time writing posts and deliver better quality content. As language models increasingly become more state-of-the-art, language, produced by AI through natural language generation (NLG), has progressed to a higher level.

These sophisticated tools can be trained to perform natural language processing (NLP) tasks, and essentially, learn to read and process large sections of text based on prompts. Understanding how humans read and process information, AI writing assistants can eventually offer suggestions on how to better structure sentences. The computer’s neural networks have pretty much the entire span of all the internet’s texts within their grasp to “learn” from.

The scale of AI seems limitless, but it does have its restrictions. Since these networks are based on predictions and statistical calculations, they lack the basic building blocks of understanding that we, as humans, take for granted. Yet, there are so many other areas where they can make an impact for more compelling content.

AI can assist bloggers in planning, drafting, and editing their content in a fraction of the time they would have traditionally spent on a post. AI doesn’t replace human writers, but it certainly enhances what they’re capable of producing,” Paul Roetzer, founder and CEO of the Marketing AI Institute, has said. 

AI isn’t here to take over your job, but it is here to optimize your work and make life easier. And it seems more and more people are interested. According to the keyword research tool Ubersuggest, the word AI writing is searched 4,400 times each month in the United States alone.

It’s no surprise that many of the AI writing tools out today are called writing assistants. The future will be one where writing is an AI-first experience, where the task is a collaboration between person and machine.

AI content writing technology is here to stay. Once we get over the initial urge to cling to our previous work habits, we can start to open up to the wonderful possibilities offered by AI-based content writing tools. These tools can bring opportunities for writers to elevate themselves.

As the machine learning tech develops, writers will be able to spend less time on the writing aspect of the process and more on deep thinking – honing their creativity and crafting unique perspectives.
