Australian-based digital entertainment startup Virtually Human Studio partners with NEAR, a sophisticated decentralised platform revolutionizing the culture of ownership, programming and application deployment on the blockchain.
The partnership allows VHS to launch its highly anticipated ZEST Play Platform (ZEST) using NEAR’s Mainnet built by an award-winning team of champion programmers and backed by more than a dozen highly reputable venture capital firms such as a16z and Pantera Capital.

As the first mainnet product to launch on NEAR’s blockchain, ZEST will open the door for VHS’s ZED RUN, an immersive digital horse racing game which has already amassed a community of thousands, including the partnership of world-famous Esports company Unikrn, co-founded by the creator of Microsoft Ventures Rahul Sood.
Co-founder of VHS Rob Salha says, “As humans, we are naturally drawn to entertainment. Using emerging technology like the blockchain allows us to create new experiences never before seen. We are building entertaining and engaging experiences that let real people enjoy the blockchain without having to navigate its technical hurdles and complexities.”
Together, VHS and NEAR are pursuing new developments for non-fungible token (NFT) based projects which advocate the swift adoption of blockchain-based products like ZEST, improving user accessibility and growing new communities.

Peter DePaulo, Head of Developer Experience at NEAR states, “The team at VHS moves fast and we are excited for what else we can create with them. We are aligned on the idea that the development of good products should be user-first and market driven. In essence, build what people actually want and use underpinning technology like NEAR to eliminate technical complexity. We are passionate about supporting creators like VHS with the tools to move at lighting speed and deliver experiences that exceed people’s expectations. That is what we do here at NEAR, and it’s what we plan to continue on doing.”
Gaming on the blockchain is set to see explosive growth and is poised to be one of the fastest growing sectors in digital entertainment. The partnership between NEAR and VHS represents this movement by building customer facing applications that attract real users, through digital entertainment. Recognising that innovation requires a united front, VHS and NEAR will continue to define what enriching experiences on the blockchain can be.
