Mitek Provides Identity Verification for the Biocryptology Biometric Authentication Platform
Partnership ensures the user creating biometric for ongoing authentication is who they say they are
Mitek and Biocryptology, a European biometric technology company, announced that Mitek will provide the identity verification for its biometric authentication platform. This will ensure that biometric credentials are assigned to the right person when onboarding.
Biocryptology has created a universal identification platform that allows users to authenticate themselves both online using either mobile or desktop devices, as well as in-person settings, using biometric data. Once registered, users can access both online and physical environments using the app and their biometric data. Biocryptology offers several levels of security for the demands of different environments, from the relatively low demands of a user’s own home to the stricter needs of financial service providers.

The partnership between Mitek and Biocryptology addresses a crucial issue with biometric technology—ensuring that the user is who they say they are when providing biometric credentials to be used for authentication. Mitek’s Mobile Verify will verify the identity of a customer at crucial on-boarding stage, without the need to present documents in person. Instead, they can be verified on the same device and at the same time biometric data is captured, ensuring that the data belongs to the right person.
“Biocryptology aims to use biometric technology not just to unlock phones, but to ensure security in all aspects of our life—from banking transactions to replacing our door keys,” said René Hendrikse, VP and Managing Director, EMEA, Mitek. “We’re delighted to partner with them to ensure that the on-boarding process is just as secure and effortless.”

“Biometrics have the potential to revolutionise much of our daily lives—instead of carrying around keys, keyfobs, cards, and other access devices, we should instead be using the unique identifiers that mark who we are,” said Ted Oorbals, CEO, Biocryptology. “Working with Mitek to integrate its best-of-breed identity verification technology into our platform, means that our customers can be assured that the critical onboarding step is simple and secure.”
