NarrativeDx Awarded Patent for Patient Feedback Analysis

First Patent Covers Using Artificial Intelligence to Automatically Detect Sentiment, Categories, Themes, and Provide Actionable Insights from Patient Feedback

NarrativeDx announced that the US Patent Office has awarded to it a patent that covers the automated analysis of patient feedback, a cornerstone of consumerism strategies for many health systems.

U.S Patent Number 10,114,814 covers NarrativeDx’s innovative technology that uses natural language processing and machine learning to understand patient feedback from a variety of sources and identify specific opportunities that improve patient satisfaction scores, boost referrals and increase employee engagement.

“This patent recognizes our innovative approach to using artificial intelligence to hear the voice of the patient.  We incorporate all available feedback sources, such as grievance letters, rounding, satisfaction surveys, social media and online physician reviews into a single platform that separates the signal from the noise.  We help our clients turn silos of patient feedback into the right insights that move the needle, in specifically targeted ways for them,” said Kyle Robertson, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, NarrativeDx.

This patent is the first in a portfolio of pending applications that cover key aspects of NarrativeDx’s innovative technology.  NarrativeDx uses this technology to recognize over 5,400 root causes of patient satisfaction and provide targeted insights that facilitate patient experience and workforce development initiatives.  The technology also incorporates a proprietary understanding of patient experience and language.  “You can’t capture the nuance of a patient’s experience with sentiment or categories – you need to identify the root cause and what to do about it.  That’s why we built the largest, most comprehensive understanding of verbatim patient feedback in existence.  This allows us to be incredibly detailed and accurate where other solutions fail,” Robertson added.
