VMware to Acquire Mesh7 to Further Bolster Network and Security Virtualization

Leading Network automation and virtualization solutions provider, VMware has announced its intent to acquire Mesh7, a provider of API Security Mesh for Cloud computing platforms. The acquisition would enable the VMware Virtual Cloud Network to further extend its leadership in the modern Cloud Networking and Containerization services market.

VMware, together with Mesh7, would develop a fully integrated API + service mesh product with Envoy proxy as the foundation. 

VMware Cloud Network provides a modern network that understands the needs of applications and programmatically delivers connectivity and security services to meet the agile requirements of modern companies. With Mesh7 technology, VMware will be able to bring visibility, discovery, and better security to APIs.

Why VMware Needs Mesh7?

Mesh7 provides API Security Mesh for better visibility into API layers, bringing deep and contextual application that helps to remove blind-spots within Cloud-native app environment.

VMware and Mesh7 would combine their forces to empower CIOs and CISOs with better visibility into Cloud application security, IT microservices and Containerization practices that need advanced capabilities to combat perils of data breaches and cyber threats that affect distributed and cloud-native platforms.

Key Features of VMware – Mesh7 Combination

• VMware will build highly advanced application connectivity services for modern Cloud-native environments
• VMware would expand the reach of Envoy open source technology to improve security services.
•  Envoy is an open source Layer 7 proxy for microservices-driven cloud frameworks. It is the core component of Tanzu Service Mesh, which is quintessential to imparting security in Kubernetes clusters and Cloud setups.
• Mesh7 would help VMware develop and improve existing APIs and Layer 7 constructs.
• VMware and Mesh7 would herald the new age of InfoSec and DevSecOps using the integration prowess of Tanzu Service Mesh.
