Panasonic Extends Stronger IIoT Capabilities for Manufacturers by Acquiring Omni-ID’s ProVIEW
Panasonic has acquired ProVIEW Solutions Business Unit from New-York based Omni-ID. The announcement was made on April 1, 2019, and indicates Panasonic’s ambitions towards expanding their portfolio for diverse industries.
ProVIEW Solutions is a provider of material Flow Management Software and will be a part of Panasonic’s Industrial Devices Sales Company of America. The proVIEW solution is designed to cater to the manufacturing industry providing a combination of unique e-label ‘View’ tags and best-in-breed software.

ProVIEW has been previously awarded the ‘Global Material Flow Management for Manufacturing 4.0 Product Leadership Award’ by Frost & Sullivan. Its solution completely replaces paper-based material flow management with a digital alternative — this translates as smart materials, which is a critical aspect of the Industrial Internet of Things or IIoT.
Hence, the combination of Panasonic’s existing business for manufacturing industries and proVIEW’s Material Flow Management Solution will be vital for Panasonic to cater to its global customer base. Panasonic will also be able to quickly implement IIoT whereby the manufacturing sector will benefit in terms of process control and visibility. Manufactures will efficiently activate Smart Manufacturing with added attributes such as traceability and optimization.

“The addition of ProVIEW solutions as well as the software and the talented team behind the technology will greatly reinforce our efforts to provide manufacturing customers around the world with innovative IIoT solutions that make ever-greater contributions to their businesses,” said Jeff Howell, President of Panasonic Industrial Devices Sales Company.
As this is the transitory period, OMNI-ID will continue to be a reseller of proVIEW. However, more announcements will follow soon. Prior to this acquisition, Panasonic’s dedicated business for manufacturing develops best-in-class components for mechanical as well as wireless products. The unit has an array of solutions to resolve complex problems for manufacturing.
