MakeShift Secures SOC 2 Type II Compliance, Reinforcing Commitment to Provide Clients Enterprise-Level Data Security

MakeShift, a cloud-based employee scheduling and time tracking platform, announced that it has achieved SOC 2 Type II compliance in accordance with American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) standards.

SOC 2 certification is the gold standard for security and data confidentiality for companies that provide technological tools and deal with sensitive information.

Undergoing and successfully passing the SOC 2 Type II audit serves as validation to current and future clients that MakeShift is committed to managing their data with the highest standards of security.

“Achieving the SOC2 Type II certification is really about proving you can walk the talk,” said Danny McGuinness, Chief Technology Officer, MakeShift. “It’s a credit to the dedication of the MakeShift product development, security, customer success, and support teams to not only earn this credential in security and reliability but also the greatest thing a customer can give you, trust.”

To pass the SOC 2 Type II audit, an organization’s internal processes need to meet a specific set of criteria with over 300 operational controls. For MakeShift, this included having a business continuity plan and a disaster recovery plan. There are also other requirements around the ability to report and recover data in the wake of a security incident, with notifications sent out to all customers if the company discovers something isn’t working correctly.

“MakeShift was originally built for nurse scheduling and today the healthcare industry represents around half of our customers using the platform globally, every hour of every single day,” said Adam Greenberg, CEO, MakeShift. “Making sure our system is secure and always running is of utmost importance to us. Our customers across all industries as well as partners like SAP, Intuit, ADP, and AllianceHCM expect nothing less than world-class data security and privacy standards and this certification validates that we take these commitments seriously.”

In addition to data security and privacy controls, MakeShift has also implemented an audited change management process to further strengthen system reliability. Before releasing any new code, Quality Assurance reviews and tests it locally. By deploying changes in stages, MakeShift is always able to roll back an update if needed.

MakeShift recently announced double-digit growth for 2021 and plans on expanding its footprint in North America by investing in product innovation, focusing on industry verticalization, and signing new partners such as the company’s forthcoming partnership with SAP SuccessFactors.

Obtaining the SOC 2 Type II certification puts MakeShift on track to successfully capitalize on its growth goals.

MakeShift was audited by Prescient Assurance, a leader in security and compliance attestation for B2B, SaaS companies worldwide.
