MakeMyTrip & Microsoft Partner Up, Bring Generative AI for Voice-Assisted Travel Bookings

In a big move, MakeMyTrip (MMT), India’s leading online travel company has joined the Generative AI bandwagon. The brand that owns Goibibo and Red Bus announced its partnership with Microsoft to enable voice-assisted booking in Indian languages on its platform, powered by Azure OpenAI Service. MakeMyTrip asserts that generative AI will expand the platform’s reach and inclusivity to more users nationwide.

Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder & Group CEO, MakeMyTrip says that they are happy to present a feature that eliminates obstacles caused by language, literacy, the inability to use complex app environments, physical limitations, etc. We have pioneered solutions at the convergence of e-commerce, travel, and technology.

Simple visual cues and voice instructions in the local Indian languages are part of the generative AI integration we’ve developed through our partnership with Microsoft, which will change the way people book trips going forward.

Message from MMT’s CTO

Holiday planning is exciting yet exasperating at times. The fact that each bit of planning has to fit together perfectly into a jigsaw puzzle makes the whole exercise a tad bit overwhelming. Also, each customer has a different time of travel, budget, etc.

In an interview with Mircosoft, MakeMyTrip Group CTO, Sanjay Mohan says that with generative AI, we may make the flow conversational in order to elicit the appropriate replies from users and learn more about their preferences. As long as the customers are able to engage on the platform through discussion, they will also have a better experience.

While explaining how Generative AI will offer a better customer experience on the new platform, he said if customers are able to engage on the platform through discussion, they will also have a better experience. He further added that the brand offers a sizable collection of user-generated content at MakeMyTrip, including hotel reviews for all types of travelers. Everyone’s travel situation is unique, and they all have special accommodation requirements.

A solitary traveler might be looking for daring activities, a honeymooning couple might be looking for an infinity pool, and a family with children would be looking for a hotel with a swimming pool and an area to play with activities for kids. He stated that the brand can provide contextual summaries of user-generated evaluations with the use of generative AI.

MMT’s new offering, which is a robust mix of AI and Machine Learning, is aimed at making travel-related solutions all-pervasive, irrespective of the scenario. This is a huge step in the travel industry where chatbots and humans are coming together to offer a seamless customer experience. Generative AI is evolving at a phenomenal pace and in the future, travel planning will only become more inclusive and accessible.
