Chandrasekhar remarked during the opening session of the Moneycontrol India Fintech Conclave: “One of the world’s largest publicly gathered and accessible data sets would be the program. It will undoubtedly propel and catalyze the next generation of fintech as well as other facets of the Internet by working with the fintech ecosystem.”

Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance minister, also made an announcement on the National Data Governance Framework Policy, popularly known as the India AI initiative, during her speech about the budget.

  • To encourage research by start-ups, a policy on data governance will be rolled out. This will make anonymized data accessible, she further added.
  • A portal will be created as part of the framework to handle requests and give Indian researchers and start-ups access to non-personal and/or anonymized datasets.
  • Additionally, Chandrasekhar also added that the upcoming Digital Personal Data Protection Bill and the Digital India Act would impact the way how platforms interact with consumers and citizens.

The IT Act was replaced by the Digital India Act. It is a global standard, current law that addresses the future of the internet, the future of the tech innovation ecosystem, user harm issues, openness accountability, and other issues, the minister stated.

The bill would identify different categories of middlemen. The diversity of intermediaries today, as well as their complexity and differences, he said, “demand different sorts of regulation and other types of rulemaking,” and he added that the measure would only be implemented following a consultation process.
