Lenovo’s AI Innovation Towards COTA
Lenovo and Two of its AI Innovators
Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, TX is just one of many venues that have benefited from Lenovo AI’s growing network of partnerships, solutions, and capabilities. During the FORMULA 1® LENOVO UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX 2023, COTA was supported by Lenovo and two of its AI innovators, WaitTime and VISTRY. Together, they showcased solutions that showcased “what is possible with AI” at the top US sports and entertainment venue. While racing is going on, have a good look at the Lenovo AI solutions that are working behind the scenes.
Thousands of temporary workers were engaged by COTA to handle concessions, parking, gates, and more in order to accommodate the large turnout of Formula 1 fans. To make sure everyone had a good time during the weekend, they needed a technique to teach these workers what they needed to know. A solution for advanced AI chatbot support was developed by Lenovo and Vistry in collaboration with generative AI.

COTA Crowd Intelligence Solution
In order to develop the COTA Crowd Intelligence Solution, which makes use of real-time data, Lenovo collaborated with WaitTime. Lenovo is the compute partner for WaitTime, and they run the proprietary algorithms at a ridiculous rate of 24 frames per second. The “art of what’s possible with AI at venues” was on display with this cutting-edge AI Solution from Lenovo. More importantly, AI helped make the fan experience more efficient and pleasurable by monitoring and engaging with spectators at Circuit of the Americas.

Increase in Productivity
Not only is COTA’s Staff Assistant easy to use, but it also increases productivity, decreases stress, and makes fans happier. The COTA temporary event crew received direction and answers to frequently asked questions from this AI chatbot. The temporary workers relied on the Staff Assistant, who was reachable via Spanish and English text messages, for assistance. It answered frequently asked questions (FAQs), showed how to use the venue, and gave directions for preparing meals in real time, among other things.
To take it a step further, Lenovo and WaitTime have introduced a revolutionary venue solution that will use state-of-the-art technology to revolutionize the Formula 1 spectator experience. Using WaitTime’s proprietary AI technology on Lenovo ThinkEdge Servers in conjunction with eighteen strategically placed cameras around the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) racetrack, COTA operators can keep a close eye on the large queues of people.
