SAP Concur Closing Down Hipmunk Business from Jan 23.
On January 23, Hipmunk by SAP Concur will officially cease to operate in the travel search industry. In less than a decade, the company has seen many highs, but the good run of events has ended. SAP Concur acquired Hipmunk in 2016, reshaping it as a top-tier meta-search travel website and app.
In an official blog, Hipmunk confirmed the news. The blog read, “Today, we have important news to share. After nine years of being a travel search innovator, Hipmunk is being retired. The current plan is to stop supporting the product on Jan. 23, 2020. At that time, the Hipmunk website and app will no longer be available for use.”

In 2016, Hipmunk was acquired by SAP Concur. As its approach to providing business travel solutions has evolved, SAP Concur has made the decision to retire the Hipmunk product.
As a travel metasearch, Hipmunk helped thousands of users, mostly travelers, plan their trips, backed by SAP Concur’s expertise in SaaS-based travel and expense management.
Post-retirement, Hipmunk users would no longer have access to their accounts.
Founded in 2010 by Steve Huffman and Adam Goldstein, the SF-based online travel metasearch company quickly raised the bar in the industry. By 2016, Hipmunk had raised over $50 million in funding from 7 investment rounds, led by OAK, IVP, and Ignition Partners.
