Transforming Cybersecurity: Google Cloud Launches Generative AI Model SEC-PALM

Generative AI is versatile and is generating a whole lot of interest among everyone. This particular branch of AI has become everyone’s favorite since the release of ChatGPT, needless to say, it opened up a whole new world of creativity.

The field of Generative AI is moving faster than ever and brands want to augment their businesses with its help. Companies are developing a gamut of features and tools to transform their future workforces.

Recently, Google joined the emerging new trend – generative AI in cybersecurity and launched its new big language model dubbed Sec-PaLM. Google announced Google Cloud Security AI Workbench, an industry-first extensible platform powered by a specialized, security LLM, Sec-PaLM at the RSA Conference 2023.

Google aims to make ‘strong security pervasive and simple for everyone.’ The brand indicated that its investments are based on knowledge gained from our top-tier threat analysis teams and expertise assisting clients in responding to the most complex cyberattacks.

What is SEC-PALM?

Google says that ‘the new model is fine-tuned for security use cases, incorporating our unsurpassed security intelligence such as Google’s visibility into the threat landscape and Mandiant’s frontline intelligence on vulnerabilities, malware, threat indicators, and behavioral threat actor profiles.’

What is Google Cloud Security AI Workbench?

Google Cloud Security AI Workbench can be defined as the industry-first extensible platform which is powered by a specialized, security LLM, Sec-PaLM.

  • The threat overload, laborious tools, and the talent gap are the three main security concerns that it now uniquely addresses with new services.
  • It will also include partner plug-in interfaces, with Accenture becoming the first partner to use Security AI Workbench, to deliver threat intelligence, operations, and various other essential security capabilities to clients.
  • Additionally, users will be able to make their private information accessible via the platform at the time of inference, ensuring that we keep our promises to customers about the privacy of their data.
  • Users can manage the information they store with enterprise-grade features like data isolation, data security, sovereignty, and compliance assistance since Security AI Workbench is built on Google Cloud‘s Vertex AI infrastructure.

Accenture is the first partner to use Security AI Workbench, and it will also include partner plug-in connections to deliver threat intelligence, workflow, and various other essential security features to consumers.

Threat Prevention

Google is known for giving firms best-in-class tools to respond to risks right away. What if, however, we were able to do more than only recognize and treat the initial infections—what if we could also contribute to their prevention elsewhere?

With the advancements in AI, we are now able to combine top-notch threat intelligence with real-time incident analysis, cutting-edge Intelligence-based detections, and unique analytics to assist stop the spread of new infections.

These developments are essential to preventing a potential rise in adversarial assaults that employ generative AI and machine learning. This is why we’re thrilled to present:

  • With Sec-PaLM, VirusTotal Code Insight evaluates and explains the behavior of possibly malicious scripts, making it easier to identify which scripts pose a problem.
  • To automatically notify you of active intrusions in your system, Mandiant Breach Analytics for Chronicle uses Google Cloud and Mandiant Threat Intelligence.
  • Sec-PaLM will be used to assist contextualize these crucial discoveries and provide an immediate response.

Google Cloud assists enterprises in modernizing security wherever they are. The number of security solutions that businesses require to protect their extensive attack surfaces can be decreased with the help of advances in generative AI, which will ultimately enable systems to defend themselves. The effort required to manage numerous environments, create security design and capability, and create security policies will be reduced as a result.

Consider a scenario in which novices and security specialists are combined with AI competence to avoid repetition and fatigue and complete tasks that currently appear unattainable. Google is integrating Sec-PaLM-based features that can improve effectiveness and make security easier to comprehend in two of their systems in order to fuel this evolution – Chronicle AI and Security Command Centre AI.

Customers of the Chronicle will soon be able to search through billions of security incidents and communicate the findings verbally.

Complex attack graphs will be converted by the Security Command Center into explanations of attacks that are understandable to humans.

These new releases support Google’s ongoing work to address these problems through capability. The product developments outlined in our demo, Sec-PaLM and partner integrations, as well as Security AI Workbench, are all building pieces for a bigger initiative to improve security throughout the ecosystem.
