Lightbits Labs And Define Tech Partner To Simplify Cloud-Native Deployments

The partnership produces a simplified, cost-efficient data platform to run Kubernetes applications at scale.

Lightbits Labs a leader in NVMe-based, scalable and software-defined elastic block storage for private and edge clouds, announced that it has entered into a partnership agreement with Define Tech, a global independent software vendor (ISV) for cloud-native computing in finance, life sciences, broadcast and media, and high-performance computing (HPC).

The data center is transforming, enterprise IT organizations are building cloud infrastructure and they need software-defined, composable and disaggregated storage to manage the explosion of data. This partnership will deliver solutions to customers who want simple, flexible, agile, and accelerated cloud-native deployments. With Lightbits software on a bare metal platform from Define Tech customers get the benefit of disaggregated storage with rich data services but with performance that is equivalent to local flash. The performance benefits as well as integration with Kubernetes enables IT organizations to build robust, responsive, secure services to their customers. Whether those customers are internal users of the private cloud or other companies that rely on Cloud Service Providers (CSPs).

“We live in a data-driven world with customers in varying stages on their journey to being cloud-native. Enterprise IT organizations need multi-cloud ready solutions—a cloud platform that can scale across geographies and be administered from a central location. That’s what this partnership brings to the table. With our combined solution, IT organizations can manage their cloud infrastructure from a secure, on-premises, virtualized and container-driven orchestration platform with Lightbits as the high-performance back-end storage platform. Our joint customers, like Starview International for example, save on costs, simplify their infrastructure, and enable faster application deployment,” said David Power, CTO at Define Tech.

Lightbits software delivers a cost-efficient, scalable storage platform and is ideal for IT organizations supporting high performance databases, big data analytics, and web-scale environments using either bare metal, virtual or container-based architectures. Because it’s an NVMe-based, software-defined storage that runs on standard TCP/IP networks and commodity hardware it makes hyperscale-like efficiency accessible to any enterprise IT organization.

“IT organizations who traditionally use DAS for its low latency will find they get the same or better latency and performance from a shared storage architecture like Lightbits to power their modern cloud-native applications,” added Kam Eshghi, Chief Strategy Officer at Lightbits Labs. “We’re excited to deliver to customers a joint solution with Define Tech that eliminates the tradeoffs associated with DAS, such as stranded capacity and rigid performance and capacity limitations. Our solution delivers a unified, elastic storage platform that can be deployed on Private or Edge clouds. And because Lightbits is architected to maximize the utility of NVMe flash, improving endurance by up to 20X, it dramatically improves TCO.”

PREDICTIONS-SERIES-2022

Already emerging from the partnership is a reference architecture for AI/ML workloads. The LMX AI Reference Architecture features best-practice suggestions for the likes of compute, networking, storage, power, and cooling in an integrated AI infrastructure. It is designed to progress organizations’ AI strategies without adding significant strain to their budget. The LMX AI Reference Architecture enables an organization to start small on its AI journey and scale as the business requirements and workloads grow. The platform is built using building blocks that enable a company to infinitely scale its compute, storage, or acceleration resources depending on its needs.

“As a leading specialized technology systems integrator, we see the value of a combined solution of Lightbits with LMX from Define Tech to enable data-intensive workloads like AI/ML at scale,” said Alexey Stolyar, Development Director at International Computer Concepts (ICC) – Define Tech’s US counterparts. “Disaggregation over standard networks is inevitable for enterprise IT organizations who want performance without compromising flexibility and simplicity for their private and edge clouds.”
