GSMA Announces First Details for MWC Shanghai 2020

Newly Introduced 5G in Exhibition Hall Powered by 4YFN

The GSMA announced the first details of MWC Shanghai 2020, including participating companies, as well as a wide range of programmes and activities taking place at the annual mobile industry event. MWC Shanghai 2020 will be held from Tuesday to Thursday, 30 June to 2 July 2020 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), with events also at the Kerry Hotel Pudong and Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel. The GSMA expects more than 75,000 professionals from across the mobile ecosystem and vertical industry sectors will attend the event.

5G IN Exhibition Hall Powered by 4YFN

Newly introduced for 2020, the 5G IN (Innovation and Investment) Exhibition Hall is part of the 5G Innovation and Investment Group initiative, launched in China by the GSMA in September 2019. Building on the success of 4 Years From Now (4YFN), 5G IN provides a unique international business platform that unites the most talented and advanced tech start-ups with key investors that are focused in the emerging technologies of 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), among others. The Hall will include a mix of activities including summits, pitching platforms and investor tours that provide the best 5G opportunities for the start-up community. Twelve companies have joined the 5G IN Group as founding members including China Broadband Capital, China Mobile Capital, China Mobile Fund Management, CSDN, China Telecom Investment, China Unicom Capital Investment, Deloitte China, Huawei, Mount Morning Capital, Orient Securities Capital Investment, Shenzhen Valley Ventures and ZTE.

Covering eight halls at the SNIEC, MWC Shanghai will feature the leading products, services and technologies that are shaping the digital future across both the mobile ecosystem as well as adjacent industry sectors such as automotive, manufacturing and retail. Returning companies including Anritsu, AsiaInfo, BICS, CITIC Telecom, China Information Communication Technologies (CICT), China Transport Telecommunication Information Group (CTTIC), Comba Telecom, Ericsson, Giesecke+Devrient, Huawei, New H3C Technologies, Nokia Shanghai Bell, OPPO, Qualcomm, Samsung LSI, Sony, TUV Rhineland, VIAVI, vivo, Whale Cloud and ZTE, among others. MWC Shanghai: Largest Carbon Neutral Exhibition and Conference in Asia

MWC Shanghai has been officially certified by AENOR International as carbon neutral under the international PAS 2060 standard, reinforcing its position as the largest carbon neutral exhibition and conference in Asia. The GSMA implemented a range of measures to reduce emissions for MWC19 Shanghai, resulting in a greenhouse gas reduction of more than 90 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent. To compensate for the remaining carbon footprint, the GSMA is supporting the United Nations-certified projects, including an N2O decomposition project in Liaoyang, a Hydropower project in Aketao, China and a Hydro-electric project in Cambodia.
