Semtech Corporation, a leading supplier of high performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors and advanced algorithms, announced that Semtech’s SX126x of the LoRa® devices and wireless radio frequency technology (LoRa Technology) platform has been named the Analog Semiconductor of the Year at the Elektra Awards. SX126x, introduced to the market in early 2018, is the latest generation of LoRa Technology for Internet of Things (IoT) communication, and brings longer range and lower power connectivity for end points.
“Semtech’s LoRa Technology is increasingly being leveraged to solve complex issues ranging from crop irrigation schedules to Cloud-connected fire alarms,” said Marc Pegulu, Vice President and General Manager of Semtech’s Wireless & Sensing Products Group. “LoRa Technology is the device, network and applications (DNA) of IoT, enabling simple, proven, scalable, and easy-to-implement solutions. This award recognizes our vision that long range and low power are key values for the IoT market. SX126x has been designed to offer simpler and shorter development time to our customers.”
LoRa Technology has thousands of proven, real-world use cases. Apana, a Washington-based technology company, deployed LoRa-enabled water management and leak detection solutions in Costco warehouses, reducing water usage by 20% and saving Costco 22% on water bills. In addition, CRA, a leading provider of LoRaWAN™-based networks and utility metering solutions, currently offers LoRaWAN-based network coverage to 75% of the Czech Republic, with smart metering solutions in the country quickly growing. Tens of millions of LoRa-based smart metering solutions were deployed globally in 2018. LoRa Technology enables IoT solutions fostering innovation from a growing ecosystem of companies and developers.
