THine Electronics, Inc., the global leader in high-speed serial interface and provider of mixed-signal LSI, announces that it has completed acquisition of 84% share of Cathay Tri-Tech, Inc., a Japan-based IoT/M2M solution provider, which has become THine’s subsidiary in last December. This acquisition gives THine remarkable capabilities of IoT total solution for customers’ business innovation with IoT and AI. This deal has been done by THine’s treasury stocks and cash.
THine’s synergy effects through acquisition of Cathay may include:
1) to provide total solutions produced by combination of THine’s LSI/system solutions and Cathay’s solution with LPWA for IoT, LTE, and furthermore 5G,
2) to provide new sensing devices based on THine’s knowledge of high-speed interface and ultra-low power consumption in LSI technology and Cathay’s solution with well-penetrated wireless communication modules, and
3) to provide new value-added semiconductors based on both applications.
THine and Cathay plan to contribute to their customers’ and users’ innovative solutions with LSI/sensors, IoT and AI.
“While THine has established and provided de facto standard technology of high-speed interface, especially V-by-One®HS in industrial and consumer applications”, says Yasuhiro Takada, President and CEO of THine Electronics, “THine’s new team with Cathay has obtained remarkably wider abilities to provide total solution for IoT and AI users. Since THine has established specialized team for providing IoT and AI solutions, THine and Cathay will enhance value for customers and users.”
