VoltDB Introduces First 5G Edge Pricing Model to Meet Market Dynamics of the Data-Driven Economy

Performance-Based Pricing Model Accelerates Smart Stream Processing Deployments at the Edge of 5G and IoT Architectures

VoltDB, the enterprise-class fast data processing platform that powers real-time intelligent decisions on streaming data, announced the industry’s first performance-based commercial pricing model for today’s modern, real-time data architectures. The VoltDB 5G Edge Pricing Model empowers organizations to more quickly deploy VoltDB Smart Stream Processing at the edge in micro data centers, reducing latency and scaling to meet the demands of 5G-powered applications.

To achieve the low latency promises of 5G, the data needs to be stored, filtered and processed; driving decisions close to the edge instead of moving the swath of data to a central hub. Though edge data-centers do not have large powerful machines, they instead have smaller machines with enough capacity to process the data from the individual edge that it is attached to. VoltDB’s new, edge-based pricing for performance allows organizations to build out their edge data center architecture without needing to worry about the economics of processing the data.

In order to effectively provide coverage for higher speeds, 5G networks require ten to 100 times as many small cell antennae as would a major tower. New architecture helps avoid the loss of signal beyond short distances and reduces communication latency. Legacy architecture does not have the power to manage the low latency expectations of 5G applications and Industrial IoT. This leads to the edge data centers concept, where both the applications and the data processing platform are deployed on the edge data centers. VoltDB’s new pricing structure aligns with the performance requirements and the resources required.

“VoltDB is the only platform that meets all of 5G’s data processing requirements, and our new pricing model is designed to meet the business and technical needs of the digital economy,” said David Flower, CEO of VoltDB. “By aligning with 5G and IoT architectures, the VoltDB 5G Edge Pricing Model provides organizations with a high-performance Smart Stream Processing Platform that enables them to capitalize on new revenue opportunities and stay ahead of the competition.”

VoltDB’s Smart Streaming Platform is the only platform that serves both the streaming needs and the interactive decision-making needs inherent to a 5G environment. The interactive decision making is necessary for mission critical aspects where decisions lead to actions in the lowest latency. The stream processing incorporated with machine learning deployment addresses the area of data processing where decisions drive actions in downstream systems.
