AiThority Interview with Howard Tien, CMO at SecuX
Know Me
Hi Howard, please tell us about your journey in technology and how you started at SecuX.
I’ve been in Semiconductor and IC Design industry for about 20 years. I have experienced different roles: Engineer, Sales, Product Manager, Business Marketing, and Head of Global Business in Taiwan, Europe, US, and China.
To be honest, it’s really a very wonderful journey within lots of amazing stories. A year ago, I thought of entering enter an emerging industry, after I’ve experienced so many different business cycles in previous companies.
I believe there are 2 keys for startups’ success: Team and Technology roadmap. Then, I’m in SecuX now.
You were at CES 2020. What unique Blockchain trends and technologies did you see at the event?
Obviously, there will be more and more technology developments to focus on real applications. They would try to bring Blockchain to different industries and solve current problems and even benefit daily life.
Chinese blockchain and crypto companies are now regulated by the Chinese Password Law. Can you tell us more about the regulations and how it impacts Blockchain companies such as SecuX?
According to me, the main impact will be on the Blockchain companies that have business in China. The companies will be allowed to work only under specific license or special permission.
So far, SecuX has not defined the direction for business in China, we will concentrate more on Global opportunities in the early stage.
What are the major disruptions you foresee in the Blockchain industry, especially with the Enterprise IT customers in mind?
So far, I have not foreseen any major disruptions, it’s only a matter of time when enterprises will discover the critical problems that can be efficiently solved by Blockchain technology.
How is the Asian Blockchain market different from the western countries? Any major line of intersection that you find startling in these two regions?
From the Bitcoin user’s point of view, for example, there is not much difference between the two regions, both China and US have huge activities in the Bitcoin trading and transactions.
Blockchain technology and market development is already separated into traditional east and west cultures. It’s more like developing individually by different economic, technology, and government policies in each country.
What kind of governance policies are we looking at to tackle issues with data thefts, frauds and identity stealing? How can blockchain governance and forensics prevent these?
It’s a big question and a serious topic which I’m not the one to comment on. No matter what kind of industry, technology always develops ahead of government policy or laws, but government will complete the protection of law to protect people’s asset and privacy. I see some countries already on the way to catch up very soon.
Who are your customers? What are the unique user-case scenarios that you solve for these customers?
We are focusing on two categories of customers. First is Cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP) users. Our crypto hardware wallet would protect the user’s crypto asset by SecuX 360° comprehensive Multi-layer security technology.
We also offer customized services to enterprises or institutions that work on custody service for a high-level of asset or protection for their group of users.
Second is the enterprise who plans to apply the crypto payment system. Our crypto payment POS solution can solve all kinds of trading scenarios between cryptocurrency and traditional merchants.
How do you see AI and Machine learning capabilities further improving Blockchain adoption in Enterprise IT setup?
AI and Machine Learning capabilities surely will improve the fundamental technology for the IoT industry, and the IoT will bring unlimited possibilities and convenience to people’s life and enterprise activity.
Once IoT becomes ubiquitous, Blockchain will become the key to solve the cross-region-problem and create a deal between device-to-device, human-to-device, and human-to-human.
The Crystal Gaze
