AiThority Interview with Stefan Behrens, CEO and Co-Founder at GYANT
Please tell us about your role and the team/technology at GYANT.
GYANT creates on-demand healthcare navigation software that improves care utilization while reducing administrative burden. GYANT’s software appears on a hospital system’s website or mobile app to chat with patients, guiding them to the care and digital health tools they need. We tie together all of the digital tools a health system needs in a single interface, creating a seamless patient experience. For example, a patient can engage GYANT about their back pain — then GYANT will triage them and handoff directly to telehealth, or help the patient find a doctor/clinic and book an appointment.
I am Co-founder and CEO at GYANT. My Co-founder, Pascal Zuta, and I have backgrounds in consumer technology and ecommerce, and we knew there had to be a simpler approach to healthcare. We believe in using technology to reshape how patients find and receive care.
Through the pandemic crisis, how have GYANT as a company and your role as a CEO evolved?
As we navigate unprecedented circumstances, it has been critical for me as a CEO to remain flexible, open-minded and adaptable. I have been listening for signs indicating a need to shift operations to what makes the most impact for our customers and their communities. I’m proud of the action that GYANT has taken during this crisis.
A benefit of our solution is to be able to address and quickly adapt to the healthcare landscape. We recognized the widespread need for COVID-19 screening tools and worked quickly to develop the COVID-19 SERA solution to help manage the increased volume of COVID-19 cases.
What tools and technology platforms do you use to work from your remote location and coordinate directions to the team?
Like most teams, GYANT is leveraging video conferencing platforms to replace our in-person meetings and phone calls. We have always had a flexible policy around working remote, which I feel has been vital to our smooth transition into the full-time remote workdays. The digital experiences we’ve had while adapting to the pandemic are very likely changing the way businesses communicate in the future, too.
Tell us more about your latest funding round?
GYANT recently announced the close of a $13.6 million Series A financing round, led by Wing Venture Capital. Additional investors include Intermountain, TechStars, Plug and Play and Grazia Equity.
The financing will be used for two main purposes: first, to continue to support GYANT’s growing customer base and to provide them with the best digital offerings and service possible.
Second, to remain ahead of the market demand for AI care navigation assistants. The pandemic has significantly accelerated the adoption of software like GYANT. Patients expect digital health to be on par with the other a hyper-personalized and seamless consumer services that they use daily. GYANT will be investing resources in transformations to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to market demand and patient expectations.
Do you think that Digital Health care is still miles away from the actual requirements of real Patient Monitoring and Checks? What keeps GYANT ahead in this unique digital race?
The digital health market has been booming for years and is only projected to grow. I do not believe that we are talking about a far-off future – technology and innovation is making a difference in care today.
GYANT is not a point solution, but instead a platform technology that connects tools and care to create a seamless patient experience. GYANT is end-to-end, encompassing all aspects of the patient journey. Our products are designed to work together in tandem as a cohesive care companion solving a multitude of industry challenges.
Hear it from the pro: What unique skill and talent should young professionals focus on, to make career in digital health care industry?
Particularly within the B2B healthcare market, it’s critical for all young professionals to have a solid foundation of sales skills. Healthcare has a notoriously long and rigorous sales cycle. Personally, I wanted to strengthen my skills in this department to support our sales team and to increase traction for GYANT during our fundraise. To do this, I found it helpful to educate myself by reading and listening to podcasts during commutes and free time.
What is the Future of Digital Transformation in Healthcare? What challenges does the industry face along the way?
As digital health technology progresses, we think there is still room to optimize efficiencies while simultaneously helping patients to receive better quality care. AI will be an essential part of lowering healthcare costs while putting the patient experience first.
One of the challenges the industry must overcome is the difficulty of integration with EHRs. The barriers for patient health data to integrate seamlessly across digital tools and health records creates headaches for providers and patients alike. The solutions driving healthcare’s digital transformation will be those with seamless data integration capabilities. EHR integration and data interoperability not only improve the patient experience, but also drive operational efficiencies for providers.
Thank you, Stefan! That was fun and we hope to see you back on AiThority.com soon.
