Arturo Buzzalino, Group Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer at Epicor discusses more about Epicor’s latest AI enhancements and it how impacts end users in this Q&A:

________

Hi Arturo, take us through your journey at Epicor

I serve as the Chief Innovation Officer at Epicor, where I lead efforts to transform how businesses harness data and AI to drive real outcomes. My work spans product management, UX design, engineering, strategy, and M&A – all focused on delivering scalable, world-class ERP solutions. By integrating AI directly into ERP workflows, we’re helping customers expedite financial processes, make more sustainable decisions, and unlock faster time to value.

Tell us about some of Epicor’s latest AI enhancements and how it’s empowering different facets like supply, manufacturing, others.

At Epicor, we are continuously innovating for the supply chain. We recently announced the industry’s first ERP AI agent with outcomes-based pricing: the Epicor Prism Business Communications agent. It streamlines RFQ workflows by reducing turnaround time and improving quote accuracy, freeing teams to focus on strategic decisions rather than inbox management. As a vertical AI agent, we’ve purpose-built it to understand the nuances of business communications within the make, move, and sell industries.

Companies should be rethinking roles and workflows to support seamless integration of AI into daily operations. Company leadership should also prepare their workers for a skill evolution. More and more, there will be a greater need for AI literacy and data-interpretation skills as people increasingly collaborate with AI agents to automate routine tasks. The goal isn’t worker replacement, it’s amplification of human expertise through intelligent tools.

Can you talk about some of the most exciting AI innovations from around the world that have piqued your interest?

One of the most exciting AI innovations today is the rise of cognitive ERP, where AI is embedded directly into enterprise systems to solve complex, real-world problems. ERP is becoming the primary vehicle for AI adoption in the supply chain, enabling faster financial processes, more sustainable decision-making, and radically accelerated implementations. I’m currently co-innovating with customers to deploy these capabilities, and it’s incredible to see how it isn’t just automating tasks; they’re transforming how businesses operate and scale.

A few thoughts on the future of Artificial Intelligence before we wrap up.

Looking ahead, AI has a lot of possibilities. It can solve the world’s toughest problems and change the way we work to automate the mundane.  But great possibilities create great responsibility. We will need to collaborate with our peers, the public, and officials to help shape the future of AI to ensure that ethical standards are being upheld and the human experience is not lost.
