Citrix and Microsoft Partnership: Virtual Machines, Azure Security and User Experience

Citrix and Microsoft partnership is a decades-old journey.

Together, the technology giants have seen and weathered every disruption by innovating at scale and providing timely services across global locations. Today, the demands are different — COVID-19 pandemic crisis may be a new order in the economy but the Citrix and Microsoft partnership seems to be ahead of time with their highly agile Cloud and web applications that could set the IT industry in order.

Sales is a key aspect of bringing together various intelligent capabilities together on the same platform. From now, Citrix and Microsoft products could be sold jointly through the dynamic Azure Marketplace.

Azure Marketplace is the world’s most extensively managed catalog of IT products, solutions, tools, and services. It hosts a wide range of apps and solutions, with participation from Microsoft’s robust community of Tech Vendors and Channel Partners.

The Azure Marketplace consists of major tech companies such as Cloudera, KenSci, Fortinet, and so on. Customers can buy Citrix and Microsoft products in a single transaction using the Azure Marketplace interface.

Ushering a New Era of Virtualization and Security

This week, Citrix and Microsoft decided to usher a new era in the way these two companies combine technologies to enable millions of customers between them with agile content, security, remote accessibility to applications, and tons of other services. The motto of this Citrix and Microsoft partnership is — to get work done wherever and whenever it’s demanded.

For example, Microsoft customers now have seamless access to Citrix Workspace. Citrix Workspace is the proprietary digital employee workforce management software that grants access to desktops, apps, and data from remote locations in a unified, secured, and intelligent manner.

In return, Citrix is hosting its services and solutions on Microsoft Azure, the world’s leading Public Cloud platform. Together, the two companies intend to deliver agility and flexibility in a highly competitive remote workspace management market that is disrupted with customer behavior, workload optimization and DevSecOps innovations.

Integrating a Host of On-Prem, Mobile, multi-Cloud, and SaaS apps

Another critical aspect of the Microsoft- Citrix partnership is the virtualization of Windows OS.

Microsoft will use Citrix’s approach to expand the capabilities of the Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) through the Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops service and through Citrix Managed Desktops.

Announcing the partnership with Microsoft, the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Citrix, Arlen Shenkman wrote in his official blog post —

“With Citrix, customers can deliver WVD as part of a unified environment, fully integrated with their Citrix cloud subscription alongside on-prem, mobile, multi-cloud, and SaaS apps. With robust Citrix management tools, administrators can take advantage of WVD including the multi-session Windows 10 capabilities, extended support for desktop operating systems, and optimizations for Office 365 Pro Plus, while providing the best end-user experience through Citrix HDX optimizations.”

Earlier, as part of its vision to make the global remote workspace industry more user-friendly and productive, Citrix had announced the launch of the Citrix X1 Mouse.
