Opti9 Technologies Acquires Hut 8’s Canadian Managed Cloud Business, Further Expanding Its Canadian Cloud Platform
Acquisition builds on Opti9’s 15-year presence in Canada, expanding its cloud presence and geographic reach for customers and channel partners across the country
Opti9 Technologies LLC (“Opti9”), a leading North American cloud, data protection, cybersecurity and managed services provider, today announced that it has acquired Hut 8’s Canadian managed cloud business.
The transaction includes Hut 8’s traditional managed cloud services business in Canada, with 10 team members transitioning to Opti9. Hut 8 will retain ownership of its Canadian data centers and continue operating its graphics processing unit (GPU) and high-performance computing (HPC) business. As part of the transaction, Opti9 and Hut 8 have entered into a multi-year colocation agreement under which Opti9 will continue to operate the acquired cloud infrastructure at Hut 8’s Canadian data centers. The acquisition builds on Opti9’s 15-year history serving Canadian organizations and further strengthens its established cloud platform and presence in Canada. Customers of the acquired managed cloud business will gain access to Opti9’s broader technology platform and experienced team, expanding the resources and capabilities available to support their evolving technology needs.

The acquisition will expand Opti9’s managed cloud presence across additional Canadian data center locations, providing greater geographic flexibility for its channel partners and customers. The expanded footprint will provide greater flexibility to address customer requirements for workload location, data residency, resiliency and disaster recovery within Canada.
