Each participant will get a chance to build and deploy a 3-tier web application with the help of Red Hat products and technologies. With this, you will understand how all these technologies collaborate to support daily development tasks while also laying the groundwork for cloud-native development.

Dev Spaces on ROSA: Empowering Developers in a Regulated Enterprise Environment

How GitOps Controls and Customizes OpenShift Clusters and Applications
Red Hat OpenShift GitOps, which is based on the Argo CD project, gives businesses the ability to develop GitOps-based continuous delivery (CD) processes to manage their OpenShift Container Platform instances and apps across multi-cluster Kubernetes deployments. The session will look at the advantages of GitOps and how to start your adoption path in this presentation.
- Evan Shortiss, Natale Vinto, and Ryan Jarvinen of Red Hat will explain how to manage and customize an OpenShift cluster using OpenShift GitOps.

From zero to hero in Kubernetes-native Java

What can pose a big challenge is adopting a new programming language or runtime over Java because of its incompatibility with Kubernetes.
- Hosted by Red Hat’s Daniel Oh, attendees will comprehend how programmers can construct a Java project from the ground up and then transform it into a Kubernetes-native application.
- The native build will be used to optimize resources, the Kubernetes manifest (ConfigMap, Secret, Health Check), container images being built, and Kubernetes deployment all be included.
- The application can still be tested and debugged after it has been deployed to the remote Kubernetes, just as local developers can do when using inner-loop development.
Vote App: A Step-by-Step Journey from Code to Prod
In this lab, Red Hat employees Natale Vinto, Cedric Clyburn, and Evan Shortiss will walk you through every step of creating a 2-tier Python and Go application that is built on Red Hat OpenShift.
After creating container images with OpenShift Pipelines and Quay.io and beginning to code with Red Hat OpenShift Dev Spaces, a cutting-edge in-browser IDE, you will deploy and promote the application into various environments using OpenShift GitOps.
You’ll familiarize yourself with topics like cloud-native development, Kubernetes automation, and the GitOps methodology in this lab.
Constructing a Serverless Functions Project with Quarkus
Red Hat’s Daniel Oh demonstrates how to construct a serverless functions project using the Kubernetes-native Java framework Quarkus in this hands-on workshop.
- Daniel will cover the functions’ optimisation, AWS Lambda deployment, and porting to various serverless platforms (including Kubernetes Knative, Azure Functions, Google Cloud Platform, and AWS Lambda).
- Additionally, you’ll enable a Buildpack for function development & deployment in seconds using practical command-line tools like kn func.
- Lab participants will receive a free serverless deployment sandbox. Additionally, you will also discover how to use Quarkus to swiftly construct cloud-native microservice projects.
The application will then be deployed to a function using the JVM and Native mode on AWS Lambda and Knative Event.
