Zyte Appoints Kevin Magee as CTO, Supporting Growth Plans

Zyte, the leader in reliable web data extraction for small businesses and enterprises, is announcing the appointment of its new Chief Technology Officer, Kevin Magee. Kevin will be tasked with managing Zyte’s R&D, technical operations, data science and AI capabilities.

A large part of Magee’s role in the company will be to help Zyte capitalize on the growth that the web data collection market is experiencing presently. In a May 2022 report by Opimas, a management consultancy focused on global capital markets, the firm states that it believes the web scraping market will reach about US$5 billion in 2022, growing at 23% year-on-year. “The bulk of spending remains internal, but external spending is growing far more quickly, with external spending growing at 40% annually, compared to 18% for internal spending,” stated Octavio Marenzi in the report.

“The data extraction market is growing rapidly, as more companies are finding that their external data acquisition demands are extending beyond what they are able to handle with internal resources,” said Shane Evans, CEO of Zyte. “With Kevin joining the Zyte team, we are adding a business, technology, and innovation leader who has a wealth of experience in transforming companies into high-value, high-growth operations that succeed. We are very excited to add Kevin to our team and look forward to his leadership as we address the challenges that our customers are facing and evolve to address the needs of the next era of open web data extraction.”

“As analytics and other forms of data consumption continue to evolve, organizations are finding that their data collection and integration operations are evolving in ways that aren’t necessarily efficient,” said Kevin Magee, newly appointed Chief Technology Officer for Zyte. “Trends over the last five years are reflecting that there is a real struggle for organizations to come to grips with the data that they need to innovate and accelerate their businesses. The opportunity that this presents a web extraction market leader like Zyte is tremendous. With a successful history, a large customer base, and a green field of opportunity, I’m looking forward to engaging with the Zyte leadership and culture to create solutions that drive our customers’ initiatives forward.”

Kevin Magee has more than 30 years of expertise in the technology sector and has held senior positions for numerous growth-stage technology businesses, the biggest multinationals (including Fortune 6), academic research labs, and investment firms. He is regarded as an expert in the fields of product development, software engineering, data analytics, and cloud computing. He has held a number of senior technical and management positions, including Senior Vice President of Engineering for LetsGetChecked, the industry leader in at-home healthcare diagnostics, Vice President of Innovation Lab in the Optum division of UnitedHealth Group, CTO and Director of Product R&D for the digital division of UL Solutions, a renowned leader in the field of safety science, COO for Information Mosaic, a financial services software provider that is now a subsidiary of IHS/Markit, and co-founder and CTO of VIDiRO Analytics (an analytics technology company operating across the media, advertising, and marketing industries).
