Major Platform Updates in 2020 to Enable Managed Citizen Development at Enterprise Scale

Quick Base a leading application development platform that helps businesses achieve operational agility announced that the company received the highest score for Citizen Development in Gartner’s September 2020 Critical Capabilities for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms report for the second year running.

Quick Base was one of the 18 vendors included in the report following customer demand for application development productivity that has led to over 300 platforms that Gartner notes support various types of low-code development. According to Gartner, “This Critical Capabilities research is a companion research document to the Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms. “Businesses across industries are facing unrelenting demand to respond to market pressures and move with more agility than their current technology, processes or resources allow. In this day and age, companies must be able to move at the speed of their people and empower innovation on the front lines of their business,” said Ed Jennings, CEO of Quick Base. “This is how we view citizen development at Quick Base, and we believe that today’s recognition from Gartner is demonstrative of our commitment to aid and empower citizen developers with the tools they need to create business-critical applications and unlock the power of rapid-cycle innovation.”

Enabling citizen developers while meeting the governance requirements of IT organizations and scaling to support enterprise applications has always been core to the Quick Base platform. Toward that vision, Quick Base has introduced new features this year – including Pipelines for citizen integrators and workflow orchestration and sandbox based development – to give citizen developers the tools they need to create powerful applications along with strong controls for IT.

As a result of growing interest in low code by today’s IT executives, Quick Base has more than doubled its share of enterprise customers, and its platform is used by over 80% of the Fortune 50. In addition, in 2019, Quick Base was named among enterprise low-code platforms to be named a Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice based on feedback and ratings from end-user professionals.

According to Gartner, “IT leaders are facing mounting challenges around application delivery. Developer shortages and skill-set challenges are impacting their ability to deliver increasing levels of business automation in a rapid and reliable fashion. In response, the vendors of low-code application platforms (LCAPs) have been improving the ease at which business applications can be delivered, providing broader capabilities requiring smaller and less specialized teams of developers.”2
