AiThority Interview with Luca Morena, CEO of Nextatlas
Luca Morena, CEO of Nextatlas, talks about AI-driven trend forecasting and methodologies in this AiThority Q&A:
_______
How did your background in technology lead you to co-found Nextatlas?
My background in technology is intrinsically tied to my academic studies in theoretical philosophy. The genesis of Nextatlas was deeply influenced by my philosophical exploration into the nature of human behavior and societal evolution. The philosophical analysis of patterns and interpretations naturally aligned with the capabilities of AI in recognizing and predicting trends. I realized the potential for AI to process vast amounts of data to uncover emerging trends much faster and more accurately than traditional methods. This convergence of technology, philosophy, and a vision for the future of trend forecasting led to the founding of Nextatlas.

Nextatlas utilizes advanced AI technology to forecast trends and consumer behaviors. Please elaborate on the unique methodologies or algorithms your team has developed to identify early adopters and accurately predict emerging trends.
At Nextatlas, we have developed several proprietary algorithms and methodologies designed to pinpoint early adopters and forecast trends with high accuracy. One key component is our specific take on social listening tools. We analyze vast amounts of unstructured data from social media, blogs, forums, and other digital sources but with a specific focus, that of profiles of early adopters and innovators. Our AI models through a varied set of technologies, from natural language processing (NLP) to generative AI, identify key themes and patterns in real-time.
What new features or innovations can we expect from Nextatlas in the near future?
Nextatlas is set to introduce several exciting features to enhance our predictive capabilities, streamlining workflows and allowing brands and agencies to work at scale with data and foresight. On top of continuously improving our products, both in SaaS and bespoke formats, we are focused on delivering the most accurate and future-facing insights to all our customers, whether they are global brands or freelancers in the marketing space.
One of our key innovations is the further development of our tool, Generate Suite: a growing set of AI agents for a variety of tasks to jumpstart innovation and speed up concept testing, discovery of communities, and other daily activities. These AI agents are capable of automating routine tasks, thus freeing up valuable time for our clients to focus on strategic decision-making. They also aid in rapidly testing and validating new concepts, ensuring that innovative ideas can be realized more quickly. Our AI agents will significantly enhance the discovery of niche communities and emerging trends, providing deeper insights and more precise targeting for marketing efforts.
These innovations will support our clients (or their customers) in achieving greater efficiency and effectiveness in their marketing and business strategies, empowering them with the tools they need to stay ahead of the competition.

The quantifiable success of our services is a testament to the precision and reliability of our AI-powered insights.
What top misconceptions would you bust about the role of a modern CEO in the AI-driven trend forecasting industry?
Well, that while technical knowledge is important, having a strategic vision and the ability to integrate insights from various disciplines is just as critical. Another misconception is that AI can completely supplant human intuition and creativity. In reality, AI serves as a powerful tool that augments our decision-making processes. Lastly, there’s a belief that a CEO should focus on micromanaging the development process. In contrast, I find that fostering an innovative company culture and empowering teams to experiment and lead initiatives yields far more impactful results.
Can you walk us through some of the AI technologies and methodologies that Nextatlas has relied on to enhance its capabilities and achieve strategic business goals?
Nextatlas relies on a blend of cutting-edge AI technologies and methodologies to achieve our strategic objectives. We use deep learning models to process and analyze large datasets, extracting meaningful patterns and trends. Our NLP capabilities allow us to process text data from diverse digital sources, identifying relevant conversations and emerging themes. We also, of course, employ sentiment analysis to gauge public opinion on various topics. Our forecasting models leverage time-series analysis and network theory to predict how trends will evolve and spread. By combining these technologies, we deliver robust trend forecasts and consumer insights that help our clients stay ahead of the curve.
Our approach seamlessly blends finely tuned AI algorithms with the deep expertise of our team. Together, they sift through the digital noise to identify emerging signals and translate these data points into compelling narratives. The process begins by collecting extensive data from a wide range of digital sources. Advanced AI and machine learning algorithms are then applied to analyze this data, uncovering patterns or outliers that indicate emerging trends. Understanding these signals within their broader societal and cultural context is crucial to grasping their potential impact and relevance fully.
Before we wrap up, how do you see the role of AI evolving in the marketing and consumer insights industry over the next five years?
The collaboration between human creativity and AI at Nextatlas is the cornerstone of our approach. While AI excels at the quantitative analysis of vast datasets, identifying hidden patterns and trends, it’s the human element—our team’s expertise in interpreting these patterns within the broader context of societal and cultural shifts—that turns raw data into nuanced insights.
This synergy between human insight and AI’s analytical capabilities allows us to deliver forecasts to our clients that are both accurate and richly contextualized.
