Arsenal Unveils Second Generation AI-Powered Camera Assistant On Kickstarter

Smarter than ever, Arsenal 2 wirelessly controls cameras from a phone, uses AI and computational photography to get amazing photos in any conditions

Arsenal, a camera technology startup, announced their sequel to the largest crowdfunding camera gadget ever. Arsenal 2, launched on Kickstarter, is an intelligent camera assistant powered by machine learning. The upgraded hardware and mobile app enables photographers to wirelessly control their cameras and easily capture amazing photos.

Arsenal 2’s artificial intelligence (AI) is powered by a series of machine learning algorithms trained on a database of hundreds of thousands of photographs. By comparing new photos with its built-in image model and adjusting based on 22 environmental variables, Arsenal 2 helps photographers get the perfect shot every time.

Arsenal 2’s new Deep Color feature adds an advanced neural network that’s capable of rendering stunning images without the need for editing. Unlike other apps, which use preset filters or generic color profiles, Deep Color chooses customized RAW settings for each photo to make colors pop and better capture the mood of a scene.

“Arsenal 2 is a complete rethink  of the way photos are brought to life,” said Ryan Stout, Arsenal’s founder and CEO. “Today’s cameras will capture the data you need to get a great photo, but without the right settings and pro techniques you won’t actually see it. Arsenal 2 changes that by choosing optimal settings and making smart adjustments. It gives your camera body a brain.”

In addition to its AI capabilities, Arsenal 2 also simplifies advanced techniques using computational photography. These include focus stacking (combining multiple images for more dynamic range or sharper focus), long exposures, timelapses, and—new for Arsenal 2—real-time panoramas (combining photos to capture a larger scene).

Night photography presents a unique set of challenges, but Arsenal 2’s new Night Assist simplifies the process. NightAssist will automatically focus on stars with a tap, then calculate the perfect settings to get sharp, detailed night photos.

Also new for Arsenal 2 is Crowd Control, a groundbreaking feature that  automatically removes people and other moving objects from photos. This enables photographers to capture iconic shots in popular locations without interference.

Each of Arsenal 2’s powerful techniques generates a full-resolution image that can be saved to a smartphone phone, backed up to an onboard SD card, and shared to Instagram, Facebook, or another favorite app.

Finally, Arsenal 2 functions as a powerful camera remote, giving photographers control over their camera from up to 100 feet away. Using Arsenal’s  iOS or Android app, photographers can adjust settings, watch a live preview, and trigger the shutter remotely from their phone.

Arsenal 2 is compatible with over 110 DSLR and mirrorless cameras, including popular models made by Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Fuji.

Arsenal 2 is offered in two versions, Standard and Pro. The Pro model features increased performance, water resistance, and USB-C connectivity. Backers of the Arsenal 2 Kickstarter campaign will receive special discounts on both models.
