“Malaysia’s digital transformation is gaining momentum as the Government’s MyDIGITAL plan and Shared Prosperity Vision seek to advance the nation’s digital economy by 2030”

“Malaysia’s digital transformation is gaining momentum as the Government’s MyDIGITAL plan and Shared Prosperity Vision seek to advance the nation’s digital economy by 2030,” said Lester Leong, CloudMile’s Malaysia Country Manager. “CloudMile is determined to be a key partner in this initiative. We help organizations in Malaysia accelerate their digital transformation and thrive in a cloud-first world by focusing our efforts on three key fronts: empowering local organizations, leveraging cloud infrastructure and boosting local talent.”

Empowering local organizations with data

As part of its commitment to the Malaysian market, CloudMile plans to grow its local workforce by five times in the next three years, aiming to strengthen its technology capabilities and customer services, especially for financial services, manufacturing industries, Government-linked companies (GLCs) and large conglomerates.

Since opening its Southeast Asian hub office in Malaysia in June 2021, CloudMile has established a Network Operations Centre to provide 24/7 support to clients across the region. It is hiring and developing local talent to make Malaysia a CloudMile regional Center of Excellence for managed services, support and research and development.

The CloudMile team helps enterprises make the best use of opportunities in the cloud through technologies like AI and data analytics, best practices in security and collaboration, and application modernization. It has already helped numerous enterprises across finance, education, manufacturing and public sectors to unlock the value of their data, achieving significant cost savings, efficiency gains and faster go-to-market times.

The expansion will also enable CloudMile to offer new innovative services such as its public sentiment analysis service CloudMile’s Social Navigator, which provides valuable insights to policy makers and marketers.

Leveraging Google Cloud infrastructure

As one of Google’s leading Cloud Managed Service Provider (MSP) partner in Malaysia, CloudMile is ideally positioned to help local companies and public agencies take advantage of the newly established Google Cloud region in Malaysia, enabling them to benefit from high-performance and low-latency services through closer proximity of digital infrastructure and applications.

In addition, CloudMile utilizes the recent Google and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) partnership in Malaysia to launch its first GCP-in-a-box subscription-based service in Southeast Asia.

Through the partnership, local organizations can now access Google Cloud’s Anthos platform for hybrid cloud services on HPE GreenLake, HPE’s on-premises edge-to-cloud platform. CloudMile transforms this new offering from a capital expenditures (CapEx) model to a subscription-based service so that enterprises can enjoy more flexible and efficient cloud services. The solution is supported by CloudMile’s professional cloud management and consultancy team in Malaysia and delivered entirely as a service, further helping to reduce costs and maximize uptime.

“We are extremely excited with our partnership with CloudMile to deliver the 1st Google hybrid cloud as a service offering to Malaysia market. HPE GreenLake will enable Google & CloudMile to deliver on-premises cloud experience for organizations with strict data residency, security and privacy requirement. HPE GreenLake for Anthos provisions and integrates hardware, software, and services to create an on-premises Anthos solution that is consumed as a cloud-like service.

The HPE GreenLake platform’s pay-per-use b****** model means you consume the capacity you need – no more and no less. We are confident that CloudMile’s GCP-In-A-Box consumption based services offering will deliver the cloud economics & TCO that industry is looking forward,” said Cheah Toh Kean, General Manager, HPE Malaysia Compute & Data Management.

Nurturing local tech talent

Looking to the future needs of Malaysia’s cloud sector to drive the MyDIGITAL initiative, CloudMile is working with multiple local universities and the Government to help nurture local talents in cloud technology.

“With the public sector already taking the lead through a cloud-first policy, cost-efficient strategy and recently signed Cloud Framework Agreement, our collaboration with CloudMile amplifies the commitment to develop citizen-centric services and advance public sector innovation,” said Raja Azmi, Google for Education APAC Lead.

As a qualified partner of Malaysia’s Premier Digital Tech Institutions (PDTIs) under the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), CloudMile works with more than 20 top tertiary institutions to share its expertise and provide career pathways for graduates. A series of seminars, internships, student training and mentoring programs have been planned for the coming year. CloudMile also fully supports Google’s Gemilang training initiative in Malaysia to offer career opportunities in this high-growth field.
