Kneron Recruits Former Qualcomm Manager as Chief Scientist Leading the New Solution Team in Accelerating Greater China Market Deployment

HsiangTsun Li, who has worked at Qualcomm for 17 years, leads the multimedia R&D team in developing multimedia applications and system structure on the mobile phones. In addition to working at Qualcomm, he was the vice president of Spreadtrum, took R&D and managerial positions at Lucent Technologies, and the technical managers of Huawei and Vivo. In the fields of multimedia, image processing, computer vision and artificial intelligence, he has obtained over 70 international patents and has published many papers in major international journals.

The members of the new solution team led by HsiangTsun Li include Kneron’s top engineers and well-known universities’ professors who are all outstanding talents that graduated from Tsinghua University, China. They are experts in the fields of AI, machine learning, computer vision, and image processing. The objectives of this team are accelerating product development, researching AI related new technologies, and linking with Greater China markets through collaborating with research institutions and companies. The team members currently include:

Yiyu ShiYiyu Shi received his B.S. degree in electronic engineering from Tsinghua University, and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is currently an associate professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering with concurrent appointment at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Notre Dame. He is also the site director of NSF I/UCRC Alternative and Sustainable Intelligent Computing, where Kneron is a full member. His research mainly focuses on AI in embedded systems and medical related applications.

Cong Shen: Cong Shen received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He subsequently joined Qualcomm Research in San Diego, CA, USA. In 2015, he returned to academia and joined University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) as Professor in the School of Information Science and Technology. He is currently in charge of Kneron Zhuhai Branch Office, leading the development of new products related to AI technology in smart home, smartphone, and other terminal equipment.

Bike Xie: Bike Xie obtained his bachelor’s degree from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering, UCLA. In 2010, he joined the Central Engineering Department of U.S. Marvell Technology Group Ltd. and was promoted as the manager of system team in 2013, responsible for the system architecture and algorithm design for 12G to 128G SerDes high-speed link, as well as the system architecture, and research and development for touch sensor control chips used in mobile phones and tablet PCs.
