Otus Unveils AI-Powered Assessment Features

Otus, a leader in K-12 student data technology, announced the launch of its AI-powered question generator, a time-saving tool that automatically generates high-quality questions and prompts for educators to use in their student assessments.

“We’ve been preparing and structuring data so that Otus can make use of AI that’s now available through ChatGPT and other similar AI tools.”

The AI tool is powered by three simple inputs: question type (multiple choice, true/false, or short answer questions), learning objective (what you want the student to do), and learning standard. The learning standard is not required; however, it helps further tailor the questions and prompts to support growth in specific areas. After the question is generated, educators will have the option to review, edit, or regenerate the question.

This feature is fully integrated into Otus, requiring no additional apps or plugins, and aligns with the company’s mission to centralize all the data and tools that educators need to be as efficient and effective as possible. School districts will have the flexibility to decide if AI features are turned on or off for educators, students, and families, allowing customization to meet individual needs.

“Introducing AI-powered question generation in Otus is a significant milestone in our journey to enhance the K-12 teaching and learning experience,” said Chris Hull, Otus president and co-founder. “This tool is more than just a feature; it’s a built-in assistant for educators, designed to create high-quality questions aligned with learning standards. It’s about giving educators more time to focus on what matters most – their students.”

Since the launch of ChatGPT, AI has taken the education world by storm, and Otus has strived to be at the forefront of this revolution. The main goal of Otus, when it was launched, was to drive the efficiency and effectiveness of educators, students, and families further than ever before. AI-enhanced Otus is not only able to further achieve this goal but also transform the educational landscape, providing tailored solutions that enhance teaching and learning experiences, streamline administrative tasks, and foster a more personalized connection between educators, students, and families.

“We knew that AI was eventually going to play a big part in our platform,” said Hull. “We’ve been preparing and structuring data so that Otus can make use of AI that’s now available through ChatGPT and other similar AI tools.”

The AI-powered question generator is just the beginning of Otus’s commitment to harnessing the power of AI to improve student outcomes. Future enhancements will include tools like the question generator in both Rubric and Advanced Assessments and more.

“AI is excellent at taking complex ideas and translating them into easy-to-understand language,” said Hull. “This is just the first of many AI enhancements to Otus, and we’re excited to continue exploring the endless possibilities that AI offers to support educators, students, and families.”
