Runway’s Gen-2 Is The Next Step Forward in Generative AI: 8 Things you Should Know

Text-to-video AI is soon going to become a reality, all thanks to the Runway which just took the next step forward in Generative AI. Recently, the AI startup announced Gen-2, a new AI video generation model.

The waitlist is open for Runway’s multi-modal AI system which can create unique videos using text, graphics, or video clips. Users just have to speak with the right prompt to generate realistic, vivid images.

Gen-1 was primarily concerned with modifying existing video footage, allowing users to enter a sketchy 3D animation or shaky smartphone clip and apply an AI-generated overlay. In its first version, Gen-1, users could input a not-so-neat 3D animation or an amateur smartphone clip and apply an AI-generated overlay. Gen – 2, on the other hand, is more focused on creating videos from scratch, despite its many limitations.

Gen-2 – Features

Find out more about the various ways that Gen-2 transforms any image, video clip, or text prompt into a captivating work of art.

Mode 01: Text to Video

You can practically say anything and watch the magic of AI concoct a fascinating video.

Mode 02: Text + Image to Video

This one’s quite simple. You can use a combination of text as well as images to create a video.

Mode 03: Image + Video

As self-explanatory as this may sound, here all you need is a driving image.

Mode 04: Stylization

This mode is a little more interesting than the first three mentioned above. In stylization, you can pass on any prompt or image style to every single frame of the video.

Mode 05: Storyboard

Users can convert their mockups into ‘fully stylized and animated renders.’

Mode 06: Mask

With this, users can single out the subjects in the video and edit them with simple text prompts.

Mode 07: Render

Here, users can convert rough renders into realistic outputs with the help of a prompt or an input image.

Mode 08: Customization

Users who wish to achieve higher fidelity results can make the most of Gen-2 customization prowess.

Studies indicate that users prefer Gen-2 over the existing methods of video-to-video and image-to-image translations. 73.53% of users prefer Gen-2 over Stable Diffusion 1.5 while 88.24% of users preferred Gen-2 over Text2Live.

Final Thoughts

Artificial intelligence systems for image and video synthesis are rapidly improving in accuracy, realism, and control. The multimodal AI systems being developed by Runway Research will support novel types of creation and Gen-2 is yet another important step in this direction.

Any form of AI will always be a work in progress, and the good part is, entrepreneurs are continuously adapting and producing innovative work in generative AI, including the intriguing and uncharted field of text-to-video.
