SingleStore Drops an Enterprise AI Glow-Up: Built for Real-Time, Serverless Functions and Ultimate Dev Flow

SingleStore, the data platform that allows customers to transact, analyze and search data in real time, today announced powerful new capabilities to deliver the ever-increasing performance required for deploying AI at the enterprise level.

The range of enhancements is both broad and deep, with every improvement designed to help builders and makers “feel the flow” as they deploy AI on their most valuable data. Updates are centered around five categories:

  • Ingest and data integration: By allowing customers to use SingleStore Flow within Helios and making it easy to move data to SingleStore from Snowflake, Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL, the release further strengthens the overall data integration experience known as “SingleConnect.”
  • Iceberg: The bi-directional integration of SingleStore and Apache Iceberg, announced last summer, opened up new opportunities for building intelligent applications on data lakehouses. This year’s enhancements build on that ecosystem by adding a speed layer on Iceberg and offering easier and faster data exchange with Iceberg external tables.
  • AI: SingleStore’s Aura Container Service (a serverless compute platform, optimized for AI and machine learning, which is designed to run containerized applications) gains the ability to host Cloud Functions, which are lambda-style serverless functions that can be used to build DataAPIs, agents or even tools for agents, as well as Inference APIs for embedding models.
  • Performance at scale: Improvements boost database performance and increase scalability, including multi-value index for JSON, automatic query re-optimization and cross-workspace-group database branching and attach. Also, critical features such as database branching, point in time recovery and SmartDR are now available for GCP as well as AWS.
  • Developer experience: Enhancements aimed at making life easier for developers include SQrL improvements (SingleStore’s AI powered knowledge base and query-building assistant), integration with GitHub, Notebooks scheduling and versioning, an updated billing forecasting UI, a multi-tab SQL Editor with autocomplete, easier pipeline monitoring and sequences.

“When you’re creating with AI, it’s vital to choose the right data foundation to build upon,” said Raj Verma, CEO of SingleStore. “As the world’s fastest database, and the only one to natively offer single-shot retrieval of all types of data, SingleStore has always been the ultimate foundational layer for AI. Now, we’re making a quantum leap forward in performance at scale – creating a faster, smoother path to development and enabling organizations to bring their boldest, most innovative ideas to life.”

Customers that have previewed the new features are finding that the enhancements are clearing away long-standing inconveniences and impediments, enabling them to do more with their data, faster.

The enhancements will be described in more depth in a launch event held today at 10 a.m. PST. The event is the first of a series to be dubbed Upsert, and Dave Eyler, Vice President of Product Management at SingleStore, explains why: “In SQL, an upsert either updates an existing row or adds a new one. It’s a great analogy for this event, which is to tell customers about new features and updates they can try. We plan to hold recurring Upsert events every few months to enable customers to test-drive new features as we continue to raise the bar for SingleStore’s performance.”

With a theme of “Feeling the Flow,” this inaugural Upsert is focused on helping developers perform their work and achieve their goals without any limits or barriers.
