Volley Introduces First AI-Enabled Racquet Sports Training Experience

Volley, innovator of the first AI-enabled racquet sports training experience, is officially launching the availability of its cutting-edge technology that delivers on-demand, live-play training so that pros and players can get the most out of their game. Volley has already seen impressive demand, including the early adoption of the trainer across multiple programs in three states. According to recent data, participation in racquet sports has risen at least 20 percent among every generation since 2019 as consumers have become more health-conscious and are looking for ways to stay active.

“As a longtime platform tennis player, I became frustrated with the lack of opportunities available to practice and improve my game with the time I had. With nothing on the market for the sport, we decided to change that and have developed something that we feel is revolutionizing racquet sports,” said John Weinlader, co-founder and CEO of Volley. “Volley’s AI technology is modernizing training methods that have remained largely unchanged for decades in order to help pros and players train more efficiently, access a community of peers, and ultimately, deliver more opportunities for everyone to play and learn.”

The Volley trainer, developed at the company’s state-of-the-art performance and testing center, was built with multiple computers and cameras and is a portable machine that easily rolls on the court to replicate dynamic shots and play scenarios. Leveraging vision software, Volley provides ball-tracking, player-tracking, and court positioning to simulate point play, including serves, drives, volleys, lobs, screens, and specialty shots. The system can record sessions for off-the-court learning and provides personalized shot stats for real-time player analysis. Volley is controlled with a smartphone and is built for a variety of racquet sports, including platform tennis, padel, pickleball, and tennis.

“Pros are oftentimes on the court for 45 to 60 hours a week, and the physical toll on the body can be grueling,” said Marek Czerwinski, former pro and Division 1 collegiate tennis player and the senior director of business development for Volley. “Utilizing Volley as a supportive tool helps to ease some of the more challenging aspects of the job and also enables pros with new ways to engage with more players with 100 percent focus, which is a win-win.”

Westmoreland Country Club, Series 15 Platform Tennis Player Jen Price says Volley is helping her accelerate her introduction to a new sport. “As a beginner, Volley has been invaluable as I look for ways to learn and improve. And because it’s easy to set up and use, I’m comfortable going out on my own and trying the shots that I’m too intimidated to try during a match or social play. With the help of my pro, who evaluates my training online afterward, it’s been a huge asset for my game.”

“As a paddle tennis pro in a sport that is incredibly popular and growing every day, I want to tap into the most savvy ways to help my players and program thrive to ensure everyone has the opportunity to play and learn the most they can every time they are on the court,” added Ana Zubori, two-time APTA Women’s National Champion and director of Paddle at The Country Club of New Canaan in Connecticut. “Volley is the most advanced racquet sports training tool that I’ve ever seen – and as a coach, player, and enthusiast, I’m excited about what’s ahead.”
