Mobile Industrial Robots launched the MiR250, a collaborative autonomous mobile robot (AMR) that is faster, safer and more agile than any other solution in the category. The MiR250, which can travel at 7.2 km per hour, is lower and narrower than other AMRs, enabling it to smoothly and efficiently navigate in—and through—limited spaces such as door openings, small elevators and under tables.

“The more agile robots are, the more useful they become, especially in existing environments with tight spaces,” said Thomas Visit, CEO, MiR. “We are seeing huge demand from current and prospective customers for robots that can quickly and smoothly navigate through tight industrial environments such as door openings as small as 80 cm. The MiR250 is the answer.”
The MiR250 is the latest addition to the company’s fleet of user-friendly, powerful and robust AMRs for heavy and light internal transport, all designed to optimize logistics throughout the entire production chain, from the warehouse to the delivery of goods. The MiR100, MiR200, MiR500 and MiR1000 are already installed in more than 50 countries at companies such as Toyota, Ford Motors, Raytheon, ABB and CABKA North America.

Built for Long Life and Harsh Industrial Environments
Internal logistics is a bottleneck for many companies due to the frequency and uniformity of the associated tasks, combined with the lack of qualified or willing labour. AMRs that can navigate around human workers and other obstacles—including other robots—strengthen internal transport along the supply chain, as ever-changing customer demands require flexibility and easily adaptable facilities.
“Not only does the compact and agile MiR250 streamline logistics for companies working in tighter spaces, but the MiR250 can be charged twice as quickly as other small-sized mobile robots,” Visti added. “This corresponds to an extra three hours of operation in a 24-hour period for a robot that can operate around the clock. If you don’t want any downtime at all, it takes just two minutes to swap out the battery.”
AMRs are designed to function in collaboration with human workers without external safety measures. The MiR250 is the safest robot of its kind on the market, with artificial intelligence (AI) and other safety features built in. It also complies with all applicable safety standards such as the EN 1525:1997, the B56.5-2012 and the ISO/FDIS 3691-4.
MiR has updated a number of standard components in the MiR250 to give the robot a longer lifetime and allow it to operate effectively in industrial environments.

The MiR250 Cart Carrier and Other Top Modules
As with MiR’s other AMRs, customers can quickly customize the flexible MiR250 with different top modules to meet their unique needs. With the launch of the MiR250, MiR is also introducing a standard module lifter, the MiR Shelf Carrier. This top module can be fitted to the MiR250, enabling the AMR to collect and deliver shelves. Customers wanting other top modules for the MiR250—including roller conveyors, robot arms and cabinets—can purchase them from MiR’s large network of third-party suppliers at MiRGo.
