Schneider Uses Progress Kinvey High Productivity Platform to Create a Personalized Customer-Facing App with Integrations to Many Enterprise Data Sources

With a global presence in more than 100 countries, Schneider Electric offers leading energy management and automation solutions for homes, buildings, data centers and infrastructure across industries. In order to enable its massive global network of partners that purchase, install, service and support its products for customers, Schneider decided to revamp its mySchneider mobile app. They selected the Progress Kinvey platform to consolidate apps and incorporate personalization capabilities. The new mega-app now includes a tailored product catalog based on user data, 24/7 availability even in places with limited connectivity, order tracking, distributor stocking and availability information, access to servicing information, account data, customer support as well as a gamification element and a loyalty program. In addition to building out the new mobile app features, Schneider wanted to adopt a microapps architecture to improve the user experience and reduce development time to deliver new app capabilities and features quickly, without rewriting significant portions of code.

Progress Kinvey enabled the Schneider Electric development team to create an app that runs across multiple mobile platforms using a single code base. The Kinvey platform also provided a modern serverless backend that auto-scales, delivers the flexibility to support frequent changes, and enables rapid integration with multiple enterprise systems and authentication mechanisms. Most importantly, the Kinvey platform enabled Schneider’s team to access powerful high productivity capabilities without sacrificing developer control in building their app.

Through the use of the Progress Kinvey platform, Schneider was able to speed up the development process by 50%, and they are pushing new app releases six weeks faster than before. In addition, the app has been downloaded more than 200,000 times and has a 4.3-star rating on the Android Play store.
