DeepMind Merges with Google to Accelerate Innovations in Artificial Generative Intelligence (AGI)
Google DeepMind is now a reality!
Google Brain and DeepMind are now singular entity. This entity is created with an intention to accelerate innovations in the field of artificial generative intelligence (AGI). As part of an internal development, Google Brain, Google’s AI research arm, has absorbed DeepMind into its hub to build new AI tools for digital transformation across the society. Leading data scientist Demis Hassabis will helm Google DeepMind’s management, building the most capable and responsible general AI systems to power Google’s next-gen products and services. In a recent article, KNIME’s Rosaria Silipo had written for our readers: “Despite huge strides and advancements with generative AI, there are still plenty of questions and uncertainties that remain.” Google could solve these questions!

In an official statement published here, Sundar Pichai said that “Google DeepMind will bring together two leading research groups in the AI field: the Brain team from Google Research, and DeepMind. Their collective accomplishments in AI over the last decade span AlphaGo, Transformers, word2vec, WaveNet, AlphaFold, sequence to sequence models, distillation, deep reinforcement learning, and distributed systems and software frameworks like TensorFlow and JAX for expressing, training and deploying large scale ML models.”
Google DeepMind in the era of ChatGPTs
Microsoft has launched ChatGPT4, a successor to its GPT3 model to disrupt the generative AI innovation industry. In response, Google had come out with BARD, a chatbot powered by Google’s LaMDA large language model. The distinct announcement related to DeepMind is a step toward competing with Microsoft and OpenAI in generative AI field that has suddenly become the new benchmark for any kind of AI-related development. Incidentally, new generative AI tools like Adobe Firefly are using their own resources to build powerful platforms that can benefit existing users and followers. By launching DeepMind as Google’s artificial generative intelligence solution, there could be a new battle front opening in quantum computing, machine learning perception, gaming and mobile systems, NLP and human-computer interaction and visualization.
We could soon see more streamlined Generative AI usage in immersive environment where Google already has a strong presence. From developing AI-powered collaboration tools to building computational platforms for initiating conversations across the digital space, Google DeepMind could be expected to emerge as a game-changer in the ChatGPT era.
We will keep a close eye on the developments initiated at Google Research and DeepMind to bring you the latest in generative AI space.
