In Paris, At tech conferences all across the globe, famous CEOs often find themselves surrounded by admirers and budding entrepreneurs seeking to network. Arthur Mensch, co-founder and CEO of Mistral AI, and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei were in attendance at VivaTech, one of Europe’s largest tech fairs.

Many people were also interested in Anthropic’s Amodei. Upon leaving the Viva Lounge after his onstage VivaTech session, he was met with a sea of people and what appeared to be a plethora of cameras, all of which belonged to various media outlets.

With the support of Microsoft and hundreds of millions of dollars in funding, the French firm Mistral AI has only been around for a little over a year. The current valuation of the company is $2 billion, but according to many sources, it is reportedly seeking further capital at a valuation of $6 billion. The CEO Mensch has been in the limelight due to the meteoric ascent of Mistral AI, a company that builds AI models similar to OpenAI.He was hustled away from the speaker waiting room and into a meeting room adjacent to the official VivaTech stage as soon as his panel concluded on Wednesday in front of an audience. The Viva Lounge is a private, invitation-only area of the VivaTech event where the speakers will be speaking.

Two of Mensch’s cronies snatched him up as soon as the meeting ended and hurried him out the door via the rear entrance. Colleagues of Mensch’s seemed to be trying to keep him away from the press and other startup reps. Someone was able to shake Mensch’s hand for an extremely brief moment.
