The Brain Research Foundation community mourns the passing of Paul Allen, founder of The Allen Institute for Brain Research and distinguished business pioneer as co-founder of Microsoft and others. In its short history, the Allen Institute has made significant contributions to neuroscience with its work to map the brain and central nervous system.

Mr. Allen’s open approach to neuroscience, whereby the institute’s discoveries are readily accessible to researchers, has been a tremendous gift to neuroscience. Brain Research Foundation is pleased to have collaborated with The Allen Institute on much needed funding for research to facilitate the discovery of scientific knowledge for diseases such as Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, autism, brain tumors and spinal cord injuries.
