Data- and AI-Related Topics Grew More Than 50 Percent from Last Year on O’Reilly’s Learning Platform
O’Reilly, the premier source for insight-driven learning on technology and business, announced the results of its upcoming Artificial Intelligence (AI) report, “How Organizations are Sharpening their Skills to Better Understand and Use AI,” which explores the data- and AI-related topics technology experts are most interested in learning as AI adoption in the enterprise continues to grow.
WIFIRE’s Artificial Intelligence software examines high-resolution satellite imagery to predict the possible speed and pattern of fire. Real-time weather from sources like NWS National Digital Forecast Database is also monitored as wind and rainfall can alter the nature of forest fire. Apart from these images from cameras installed by agencies like the Bureau of Land Management is studied. The input system feeds data to the WIFIRE system at the San Diego Supercomputer Center. The main funding for WIFIRE comes from Science Research Promotion Agencies. The departments also have pledged their bit.
SilviaTerra, a San Francisco based company has started using Artificial Intelligence to map forests across the US. Around 305.5 million hectares were being scaled down to a resolution of 15 square meters.
CEPRES released its latest investment analysis based on transactional private market data of 72,772 investments across 7,189 funds valued at $26.5 trillion.
The analysis shows that Technology-driven investments by Buyout, Growth and Venture funds have delivered substantial returns over the last decade. Overall Tech deals have achieved a 29% gross pooled internal rate of return (IRR) based on a transaction level analysis of the CEPRES Analysis platform.

NVIDIA vComputeServer with NGC Containers Brings GPU Virtualization to AI, Deep Learning and Data Science
Today NVIDIA announced that its virtual GPU (vGPU) technology, which has already transformed virtual client computing, now supports server virtualization for AI, deep learning and data science. Previously limited to CPUs, now AI workloads can be easily deployed on virtualized environments like VMware vSphere with new vComputeServer software and NVIDIA NGC. Through our partnership with VMware, this architecture will help organizations to seamlessly migrate AI workloads on GPUs between customer data centers and VMware Cloud on AWS.
