Identity governance and administration (IGA) gives IT teams a way to decide who should have access to what, when and for how long, and to show that those decisions meet compliance requirements. In education, that work is constant. Students enroll, transfer and graduate, staff change roles, and new applications come online throughout the year.
“Every school year, students move up a grade, staff change roles and new tools arrive, and each change affects who should have access to what. Identity governance gives IT teams a reliable way to keep that access accurate,” said Suraj Mohandas, Vice President, Global Head of Education Strategy at Jamf. “We think our inclusion in this guide reflects our commitment to simplifying IT so educators can focus on teaching.”
RapidID for identity governance and administration
RapidID is a cloud-based identity and access management (IAM) platform that Identity Automation, acquired by Jamf in 2025, built specifically for education. It automates the full identity lifecycle, from creating accounts when students and staff join to removing access when they leave, and it keeps access aligned as roles change. RapidID works across Apple, Microsoft, and Google environments, giving schools one place to govern who can reach the applications they use.
- Identity lifecycle management: Automates provisioning and deprovisioning as people enroll, change roles or leave.
- Access governance and workflow automation: Applies role-based access rules and workflows to approve and review access.
- Authentication and single sign-on: Provides multi-factor aAlmost doneuthentication policies and sign-on across applications.
- Rostering: Keeps class and group membership in step with the systems where identity data lives.
- Identity data management: Matches, de-duplicates and merges identity records from across systems.
Jamf also delivers identity capabilities directly in its Apple management tools, including Platform SSO for Mac, and Seamless learning Access for iPad so organizations can choose the depth of identity governance they need.
