AWS Is Now Samsung’s Preferred Cloud Partner

Samsung, One of the Largest Shipbuilders, Globally, Chose AWS to Build Futuristic Technology for Its Business. Samsung Intends to Build Next-Level Autonomous Ships by Collaborating with AWS

Amazon announced that its company AWS and Samsung will join hands for the latter’s digital transformation.

Samsung wants a headstart in the smart shipping market. In order to achieve this, Samsung will leverage Amazon’s-

  • Highly Capable Infrastructure
  • Unparallel Performance
  • Scalability
  • Industry-progressive Services

Samsung will be relying on AWS to lift heavy Infrastructure loads. Samsung expects AWS to begin work rapidly on its vision of building autonomous ships. Samsung wants to develop self-piloting ships that can carry extremely heavy cargo.

Samsung is hopeful that it can develop long-standing business relationships with AWS. Samsung is incorporating the following AWS capabilities-

Currently, Samsung is utilizing the following AWS capabilities for building data related systems –

  • Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2)
  • Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS)
  • Amazon Simple Storage Solution (Amazon S3)
  • AWS Key Management Service (KMS)
  • AWS CloudTrail

As for the navigation system that AWS is building for Samsung, AWS is using Amazon Redshift. Amazon Polly and Amazon Lex are being used to derive real-time insights via Machine Learning. Amazon is also creating a virtual ship cockpit by deploying Amazon Sumerian capabilities.

AWS will be transforming Samsung to be the first Korean company that will be compliant to American Bureau of Shipping Standards. AWS will be building Security systems that respond to cyber threats. Ultimately, AWS wants to create a highly scalable and extremely secure technology to support Samsung’s ambitious plans.
