@tendo_systems hired veteran #saas executives Dan Ballough (Workday) and Peter Thorson (Salesforce, Vlocity, Veeva, Oracle) to lead development of its platform and applications to transform the #healthcare experience

Dan Ballough, senior vice president of engineering, joins from Workday where he led teams across a range of platform and application products over the last 15 years. As one of Workday’s first 100 employees, Ballough played an integral role building the company’s applications for human capital management (HCM), as well as core frameworks in the Workday platform. Most recently, he led development of Workday’s Workforce Management and Student Systems applications. Ballough previously served as an engineer and product leader at Vertafore, PeopleSoft and Safeco.

Peter Thorson, senior vice president of product management, joins from Salesforce where he led digital platform development for industry cloud provider Vlocity prior to its acquisition by Salesforce. Over the past three decades, Thorson has designed and built some of the world’s leading software platforms at Vlocity, Veeva Systems, Oracle and Siebel.

“Dan and Peter have the perfect blend of experiences to lead Tendo’s product and engineering teams,” said Jen Goldsmith, president of Tendo. “Their proven ability to design and develop some of the world’s most transformative technologies will be critical to our success as we build a healthcare platform and applications that are intuitive and engaging for patients, clinicians, and caregivers.”

Tendo was started by siblings Dan and Jen Goldsmith, who helped build Veeva Systems into a multi-billion-dollar cloud software company for the life sciences industry—and then helped grow Instructure into the premier cloud software provider for education. Tendo is embarking on an ambitious mission to create a digital engagement platform and suite of configurable applications that connect patients, clinicians, and caregivers throughout the cycle of care.

“I’m thrilled to work with Jen and Dan again, and equally inspired by Tendo’s vision to take friction out of the healthcare experience,” said Thorson. “As a technology leader, it’s always exciting to build a new platform from the ground up. It’s even more exciting when we know it will make lives easier for patients and their caregivers.”

Said Ballough: “Most healthcare providers are stuck with outdated systems that don’t provide a consumer-centric digital experience. I’m eager to work with Tendo’s foundational customers to change that dynamic, and create software that actually works for patients – rather than making patients work to get the healthcare they need.”
