GrammaTech Appoints Dan Goodwin Head of Cybersecurity Research Division
GrammaTech, a leading provider of application security testing products and software research services, announced Dan Goodwin has joined the company as General Manager of GrammaTech Research, which provides software cybersecurity research services for the U.S. Government. The company also announced that Dr. Tom Burns, former Director, Strategic Technology Office for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is now a member of its board of directors.

GrammaTech’s government research division has been a leading contractor for the DoD for more than 30 years conducting cybersecurity research that has solved complex software problems and spawned new commercial products. Current contracts include the METIS project for the Office of Naval Research (ONR) valued at $37 million, a DoD-wide production contract for Proteus with US Cyber Command, the DARPA Lifting Legacy Code to Safer Languages (LiLaC-SL) program, DARPA for Cyber-Physical Systems reverse-engineering (ReMath), ONR for autonomic security of applications (ARTCAT) and a project with NSA’s Laboratory for Physical Sciences.
Dan Goodwin has more than 10 years of experience in building and managing world class cyber research organizations. He joins GrammaTech from software development and engineering firm PLEX Solutions, where he was Vice President for the Digital & Cyber Solutions (DCS) Business. Previously, Dan served in senior technical and engineering management roles with Northrop Grumman, SAIC and Booz Allen Hamilton. He has a M.S. in both Electrical/Computer Engineering and Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in both Electrical Engineering and Business Information Systems from University of Maryland, College Park.

Tom Burns is a former director for DARPA, entrepreneur, investor, and board member for several leading technology companies. He was founder and CEO of “smart” sensing technology provider SET Corporation until its acquisition by Leidos. Tom served as SVP and Operations Manager for Leidos, formerly known as Science Applications International Corporation, a leading defense, aviation, information technology, and biomedical research company. He was also founder and COO of video encoding technology start-up ObjectVideo, which was acquired by Avigilon.
