Netskope Extends Security Cloud to Google Cloud Platform

Building on Its Security Capabilities for AWS and Azure, Netskope for IaaS Facilitates Cloud Adoption for the Growing Number of Enterprises That Need to Secure Multi-Cloud Environments

Netskope, the leader in cloud security, announced the expansion of its Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) security capabilities with continuous security assessment and monitoring capabilities for Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The announcement builds on the company’s robust existing IaaS capabilities, including its award-winning cloud data loss prevention (DLP) and threat protection (including insider threats) for sanctioned and unsanctioned IaaS.

According to Gartner, the IaaS market is expected to reach $39.5 billion in revenue in 2019. Without proper security protocols set in place that work with a company’s existing cloud infrastructures, enterprises are unable to continuously monitor their IaaS environments, leaving holes in their security framework and hindering their ability to protect themselves against risky behavior.

“Increased adoption of cloud, hybrid- and multi-cloud strategies in the enterprise is changing the way people work today, while also giving cyber attackers new entry points into a company’s corporate environment,” said Sanjay Beri, founder and CEO, Netskope. “Managing risk associated with data loss and cyber threats in the cloud should be a shared responsibility between the cloud provider and adopters of infrastructure. By providing our customers with robust protection across their public cloud environments, they gain the security needed to keep their most sensitive data safe while allowing them to experience the benefits that cloud computing offers.”

Built on the Netskope Security Cloud, Netskope for Google Cloud Platform is part of a holistic cloud security solution that takes a one cloud approach to provide visibility, control and protection for SaaS, IaaS, and web. With these new capabilities, customers can now continuously assess their IaaS and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) configurations in GCP to ensure compliance and help prevent data exposure by cyber attacks. Netskope for Google Cloud Platform provides enterprises with the visibility, compliance, and critical workload protection needed to solve the challenges associated with data loss — all from one cloud. This includes inventorying resources that identify anomalies and risk like infrastructure misconfigurations that lead to data loss and compromise.

The continuous security assessment capabilities for Netskope for Google Cloud Platform include:

  • Configuration Monitoring: Continuously monitor their environment for misconfigurations across multiple clouds, actively enforce standards for CIS benchmarks and identify configuration drift with 35 out-of-the-box best practices and container checks to find misconfigurations.
  • Real-time visibility and control: Query and look at events specific to a Google service such as BigQuery. In addition to granular visibility into activities performed, and the user tied to those activities, Netskope also presents the objects being worked upon such as an instance, disk, table, query, firewall, and more. Administrators can quickly drill down to track activity level audit trails to determine unusual usage by individuals or by objects.
  • Compliance Reporting: Reporting is simplified with continuous compliance audits and customizable compliance reports that can be exported via API to PDF and sent to an auditor to report compliance status. Administrators can also quickly drill down to track activity level audit trails to determine unusual usage by individuals and run ad hoc queries and dynamic reports for compliance reporting purposes.
  • Cloud Inventory: Gain insight into dynamic asset distribution within and across cloud service providers to see a holistic view of cloud resources, including which resources have alerts associated with them. Compliance results can be summarized based on the resources affected and also by the compliance control.

In addition, Netskope also announced the availability of a multi-cloud dashboard and a reporting framework for GCP that delivers on-demand and on schedule compliance reports for customers using more than one cloud infrastructure provider. Powered by the unique Netskope “One Cloud” architecture, this framework allows admins to quickly find misconfigurations, security threats, view compliance status and gaps and remediate them with expert guidance.

This announcement comes on the heels of several enhancements to Netskope for IaaS, including expanded AWS security capabilities. For enterprises who need insight into all sanctioned and unsanctioned AWS, Microsoft Azure and GCP instances in the organization, Netskope is the leading provider offering these unique capabilities. With Netskope, enterprises can also identify the owner of the instance, audit all activities, protect against deliberate or inadvertent exposure of sensitive data, while also preventing malware and ransomware in these instances.
