Lisk Launches HackOnlisk and the Lisk Grant Program to Inspire Next Generation of Blockchain Developers

A hackathon, running from May 21st until July 23rd, followed by a long-term grant program sees Lisk bolster innovation and entrepreneurship in Blockchain

What: Lisk, the platform for building blockchain applications using JavaScript, is calling all inspired blockchain developers and entrepreneurs to take part in the upcoming HackOnLisk online hackathon and Lisk Grant Program. The aim of the hackathon is to support innovation on the Lisk blockchain with the transition of Lisk’s network into its Sapphire phase — the next phase of the network’s development that will connect the entire Lisk ecosystem for the first time.

Announced during Lisk.js 2021, HackOnLisk participants have the opportunity to win prizes worth an accumulative value of $33,000 USD. Winning applicants will gain access to the technical expertise of the Lightcurve development team and support from the Lisk core community. Successful projects will also receive preferential selection to join the Lisk’s Grant Program, an initiative that incentivizes developers to build production-ready blockchain applications on Lisk.

To enter HackOnLisk, participants must build a blockchain application using the latest Lisk SDK 5.1.0 and provide a URL to an open-source code repository for judging and testing purposes. Submissions must also include a 10 minute video that explains and demonstrates the key features of the application.

The Lisk Grant Program will support projects through mentorship and funding, allocating each blockchain application 60,000 CHF paid in LSK. Lisk will support the development and implementation of projects built within fields such as lending, stablecoins, NFT marketplaces, prediction markets, social networks, collectibles, DAOs, and oracles. As a proponent of blockchain innovation, Lisk will also accept more experimental applications onto the Lisk Grant Program.
