KuCoin Announces the Establishment of KuGroup With Michael Gan Appointed as Chairman and Johnny Lyu Appointed as Kucoin Global CEO
KuCoin, an IDG-backed crypto exchange, announced the establishment of KuGroup, and CEO Michael Gan has been appointed as the Chairman of KuGroup. Also, KuCoin’s co-founder Johnny Lyu has been appointed the position of CEO of KuCoin Global.
With the expansion of KuCoin’s services and ecosystem, the management team decided to adjust the company structure and establish KuGroup, which consists of three business groups, namely KuCoin Global, KuCloud, and the KuChain & KCS Business Group.
As the Chairman of KuGroup, Michael Gan will oversee the global strategy of KuCoin Global and put more efforts on exploring the boundaries of blockchain technology with KuChain, a Public Chain powered by KuCoin, and how to integrate the group’s businesses with the KCS ecosystem.

“When I was still at Alibaba, I had worked in the AI department of Ant Financial and observed how this cutting-edge technology has been applied to various industries,” said Michael Gan. “As a growing number of countries such as India, Korea, and France open its door to blockchain and crypto, the mass adoption will be inevitable and KuChain’s as well as its ecosystem will largely contribute to this trend.”
Before joining KuCoin as co-founder, Johnny Lyu has accumulated abundant experience in the e-commerce, auto, and luxury industry. At KuCoin, Johnny used to lead the listing, business development and strategic investment team, and he is also the main contributor behind Spotlight, Pool-X, and KuCloud. With his new role as KuCoin Global CEO, Johnny will be mainly responsible for the day-to-day operations of KuCoin’s, KuMEX, Pool-X, as well as the expansion and prosperity of the KCS ecosystem.
