Environ Energy Acquires Carbon Analytics Leader Scope 5

Environ Energy, a renewable energy consulting firm and leader in energy sustainability services, is pleased to announce it has acquired Scope 5, a carbon tracking and analytics firm serving clients in more than 60 countries. Scope 5 originated automated carbon tracking and built a world-class platform that enterprises use to analyze their carbon emissions and identify opportunities for improvement. The acquisition was made possible with support from 424 Capital, a growth capital investor that works in partnership with founders and management teams to accelerate and scale for long-term growth.

“Energy management is increasingly focused on accurately tracking carbon from direct on-site sources, external sources and the global supply chain. The Scope 5 carbon tracker platform provides exceptional data accuracy and tools to measure and verify carbon reductions wherever they may occur,” said Mark Mininberg, CEO of Environ. “The acquisition builds on Environ Energy’s financial best practices approach to energy management solutions and our broad experience across a range of sustainable energy skills, including clean energy technology, project development and management and carbon reduction strategies.”

Scope 5 will continue as a division within Environ Energy, supporting development of more comprehensive carbon consulting and energy sustainability services. The Scope 5 Platform will also serve a vital role in Environ Energy’s compliance services by helping clients meet ESG commitments and plan energy reduction and decarbonization strategies.

“By joining with Environ, we are able to leverage the concise carbon data management that our team is known for with on-the-ground sustainable energy development and management,” said Yoram Bernet, Scope 5 founder, who will continue as president and CTO of the Scope 5 division at Environ. “As we came together with Environ’s team, we quickly realized the potential to make a bigger difference for our clients and society: An achievable pathway to a more sustainable energy future.”
