HotelPlanner’s real-time hotel inventory availability will be incorporated into the Emergency app to provide citizens with a more holistic and comprehensive view of what hotels are open or closed and what rooms are available to book during times of emergency.
Launched in September 2022 during Hurricane Ian, the Emergency App includes data from more than one hundred sources, including HotelPlanner. The app then aggregates and personalizes the data to make it relevant, timely and actionable to the individual affected and their situation. The company is also developing a mobile app useable without cell reception and a subscription-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) dashboard for emergency managers to engage directly with their citizens.

John Prince, Co-founder & Chief Information Officer, HotelPlanner, said, “In times of emergency, it’s critically important that we provide displaced travelers and first responders with the most accurate and timely hotel room availability in the affected city. Our partnership with the Emergency App helps HotelPlanner become part of the situational awareness ecosystem during any emergency nationwide. And we look forward to expanding this partnership in the coming years.”
Joe Russo, Founder & CEO, Emergency Ventures, said, “Never before have emergency managers or the general public had access to a single data solution during emergencies to increase situational awareness of the disaster’s impact. Even with top search engines and twitter, it’s still challenging to understand what’s really going on in real time. Partnering with HotelPlanner enables anyone, especially FEMA, to obtain real-time hotel availability and actionable intelligence as the emergency evolves. And we’re just getting started to make the app more dynamic and location agnostic.”
