Introducing peaq control | The Web3 Control Center for Connected Device and Vehicle Owners

peaq Foundation, the non-profit organization supporting the peaq network, unveils peaq control, the command and control center for machine, vehicle, robot, and device owners. Through the decentralized application (dApp), now in public beta, owners of connected devices will be able to link them with peaq, the Web3 network powering the Economy of Things, and its wider dApp ecosystem, to earn as they provide services to people and other machines.

Growing by the hour despite some headwinds, the IoT industry reaches deeper and deeper both into industries and private lives. The booming AI industry is set to bolster this by imbuing connected devices with enhanced decision-making and advanced communication functions. For all its value, though, the IoT space has long been under Big Tech sway, with centralized intermediaries taking their cut and setting off the usual security and privacy concerns.

Via peaq control, users will be able to bring their electric vehicles (EVs), charging stations, drones, smart cameras and locks, various sensors, and numerous other devices into the peer-to-peer Economy of Things on peaq. The dApp, which leverages decentralized data storage to guarantee its users the highest degree of data sovereignty, offers machine owners a vast array of tools to connect, monitor, and manage their device fleets and their earnings. With peaq control, users can create self-sovereign peaq IDs for their devices, integrate their devices with the dApps running on peaq, and track their earnings and use in real-time through a user-friendly dashboard.

With the initial release, peaq control enables users to connect their Raspberry Pi mini-computers with Agung, peaq’s testnet, to help stress-test it. The mini-computers will also work as a vital testing tool for developers building dApps on peaq by simulating on-chain activities of various connected machines. Raspberry Pis can also work as the link between peaq and any machine, making their rapid integration a helpful tool for dApp builders and users. More features and initiatives around their integrations are coming soon.

“As a quasi-standard for embedded systems, Raspberry Pis are a great development platform for IoT and EoT developers due to their affordability, interoperability, and versatility,” says Harry Behrens, Co-Founder and CTO at bloXmove, a layer-2 protocol that just started building on peaq, focusing on mobility and energy dApps. “Such projects can prototype on them and validate use-cases where machines interact among each other (M2M) and/or with users while ensuring security, identification, and verification. Pis are perfect tools for building peer-to-peer systems, they can work as control units for other devices and the entry point to peaq blockchain as autonomous hardware wallets. The Pis connected to peaq will be incredibly useful for everyone building on the network.”

Coming out alongside peaq control is the peaq eot demo app, a tool designed to enable anyone to get a hands-on taste of the Economy of Things without purchasing a real charging station, an electric vehicle, or a Raspberry Pi. In the peaq eot demo app, users can generate demo machines to play around with and get a sense of how they will be able to earn in the Economy of Things on the peaq network.

“peaq control and eot demo app work not just as the perfect gateway into the Economy of Things, but also as the clearest explainer on what it is ever,” says Leonard Dorlöchter, co-founder of peaq. “peaq control works as the ultimate tool for machine owners, both private and institutional, enabling them to literally take back control from Big Tech intermediaries. The demo app is there to make sure everyone can get a sense of the Economy of Things in a matter of just a few clicks.”
