Lumeon Collaborates To Power Care Experiences with Rich, Digital Content from Mayo Clinic

Lumeon and Mayo Clinic announced a strategic collaboration to integrate Mayo’s library of clinical insights with Lumeon’s Care Pathway Management platform. The collaboration will unlock new possibilities in the care experience by enabling healthcare organizations to automate the delivery of dynamically rendered, personalized and time-sensitive digital content across both the clinical and operational aspects of a patient’s care journey.

Globally, clinical decision support and patient education content are already available for different symptoms, diagnoses, treatments, and recoveries. However, until now, they have resided in passive repositories, waiting for care teams to read them or manually deliver them to patients. This old-fashioned approach has stifled the use of modern digital content, and means that patients and their care givers are frequently left confused with missing, conflicting or excessive instruction. This contributes to patient care fragmentation, leaving patients to fend for themselves, while producing delays in their recovery.

Through this collaboration, health providers can now make Mayo Clinic’s rich library of clinical insights available to patients and care teams within automated, contextually relevant care experiences that span the patient care journey and healthcare delivery network.

Mayo Clinic’s rich library is available in English, Spanish and Arabic and in multiple formats such as HTML, audio and video, covering diseases and conditions, symptoms, tests and procedures. Content is original and authored by Mayo Clinic editorial staff and clinicians, based on 150 years of clinical practice, research and education. New content is developed regularly and reviewed at least every two years. Mayo Clinic’s content is also API-enabled, so it can be integrated with modern digital web services.

“We are excited to be working with Lumeon to operationalize the delivery of Mayo Clinic’s high-quality content within automated care experiences,” said Dr. Sandhya Pruthi, medical director of the office of patient education, content services, knowledge management & delivery editorial services at Mayo Clinic. “Mayo Clinic continues to make available a broad variety of content that health systems across the US can immediately take advantage of, including content spanning chronic disease, wellness, maternity, behavioral health and risk assessment algorithms.”

Robbie Hughes, chief executive officer at Lumeon, went on to say, “Mayo Clinic is not only one of the most prestigious health systems in the world, but they have also been an early adopter of digital online content, making it available to the public and in-house through digital websites and applications. At Lumeon, we believe health systems now have a unique opportunity to activate this digital content as part of an automated care journey, personalized for different patients’ needs and preferences. This takes the weight off their care teams, and ensures patients are informed, educated and on target with their care goals and activities.”
